Human Resources Assistant

Pay Range: $22.00 – $26.00 per hour
Position Summary
Mission Community Hospital is seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Human Resources Assistant to support the daily operations of the Human Resources department. This role provides comprehensive administrative support while helping ensure accurate employee records, smooth onboarding processes, and effective communication across departments. The ideal candidate is organized, professional, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
Administrative Support
- Provide general administrative support including filing, scanning, answering phones, and routing correspondence
- Respond to employee and manager inquiries regarding benefits, certifications, leaves of absence, and HR-related matters
- Assist with onboarding activities, including collecting pre-employment documents, identifying missing paperwork, and scheduling appointments
- Maintain and organize employee personnel records
- Support New Hire Orientation by preparing materials, coordinating catering, and setting up meeting spaces or virtual sessions
- Update employee information, job titles, certifications, and benefits records in ADP
- Coordinate with Payroll by delivering PARS, checks, direct deposits, and related documentation
- Process and file terminated employee records and collect required termination paperwork
- Maintain office supplies and HR inventory
- Communicate relevant information to walk-in applicants and support recruitment activities
- Prepare new hire packets and track orientation attendance
- Assist with tracking employee leaves of absence, workers’ compensation cases, and benefits payments
- Support HR events, benefits fairs, and employee programs
- Create and replace employee badges as needed
- Educate employees on HR policies and procedures
Additional Responsibilities
- Exercise sound judgment and maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive HR matters
- Escalate issues appropriately when necessary
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required
- Minimum 1 year of general office or administrative experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
- Reliable attendance and punctuality
- Ability to obtain a Fire Card within 60 days of employment
Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree
- 1–2 years of HR-related experience
- Bilingual in Spanish
