BUYER - INVENTORY ACQUISITION SPECIALIST

Mike Bass Ford is actively searching for an Inventory Acquisition Specialist responsible for sourcing, evaluating, and acquiring pre-owned vehicle inventory.  This role involves purchasing vehicles through various channels, including private party sellers, service lane customers, and automotive auctions. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the automotive market, exceptional negotiation skills, and the ability to build lasting relationships with potential sellers.

Responsibility Summary

• Identify and acquire quality used vehicle inventory through various sourcing methods, including private party purchases, service lane opportunities, and automotive auctions.
• Build and maintain relationships with private sellers, wholesalers, and auction representatives.
• Conduct market research to determine vehicle values, demand trends, and competitive pricing.
• Perform detailed vehicle inspections to assess condition, mileage, and overall quality before purchase.
• Negotiate pricing to ensure inventory is acquired at competitive rates to meet dealership objectives.
• Collaborate with the sales and service teams to identify high-potential trade-ins and customer vehicle purchase opportunities.
• Manage auction bidding strategies and execute purchases efficiently.
• Ensure accurate documentation for all inventory acquisitions, including titles, bills of sale, and other required paperwork.
• Maintain organized records of inventory acquisitions and sales performance data.
• Monitor and analyze inventory turnover rates, ensuring stock levels align with dealership needs and goals.
• Assist in identifying reconditioning needs and coordinating with the service department to prepare vehicles for resale.

Qualifiications

• Proven experience in automotive inventory acquisition, sales, or related field.
• Strong knowledge of vehicle makes, models, and current market trends.
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and make informed purchasing decisions.
• Proficiency in using inventory management software and online auction platforms.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.

Position Requirements

• A high school diploma or GED equivalent required
• Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a background check and drug test are required
• Ability to work on a computer for extended periods as part of your daily work environment
• A professional appearance, friendly manner, and positive attitude
• Strong customer service and communication skills, including proper phone etiquette
• Prior experience in a sales role (specifically automotive sales) is preferred, but not required
