Security Guard

Position Summary

Security is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment while providing professional, helpful customer service to customers, employees, vendors, and visitors. This position serves as a visible security presence while assisting customers with locating vehicles.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintain a visible security presence throughout the property to promote safety and deter unauthorized activity, theft, vandalism, and other security concerns.
• Monitor assigned areas, entrances, exits, parking lot, and property boundaries.
• Assist customers with locating their vehicles, offices, and buildings.
• Provide directions and answer customer questions in a friendly, professional, and helpful manner.
• Assist customers who may be unfamiliar with the property layout, vehicle locations, and rules.
• Monitor security cameras and report any suspicious or unauthorized activity.
• Conduct routine patrols and property checks.
• Respond to security incidents, customer concerns, alarms, disturbances, and emergencies as appropriate.
• Enforce company security policies and procedures while maintaining a professional customer-service approach.
• Document incidents, unusual activity, customer concerns, and other relevant information in daily activity reports and incident reports.
• Communicate effectively with management, employees, customers, vendors, and emergency personnel.
• Assist with traffic flow and the safe movement of customers and vehicles throughout the property as necessary.
• Identify and report safety hazards, damaged property, unauthorized access, or other conditions that could affect customers and employees.
• Maintain professionalism, patience, and courtesy when dealing with difficult or upset customers.
• Follow established post orders, company policies, and the appropriate chain of command.
• Perform other security duties assigned by management.

Security is expected to treat every customer with professionalism and respect. The position requires employees to be approachable and willing to assist customers while still maintaining security responsibilities.

Employees should: 

• Greet and acknowledge customers when appropriate.
• Listen carefully to customer questions and concerns.
• Provide clear and accurate directions.
• Take reasonable steps to help customers locate their vehicles, units, or destinations.
• Remain calm and professional when dealing with frustrated or confused customers.

• No guard card required.

Work Environment

This position requires working both indoors and outdoors and may involve extended periods of standing and walking. Employees may be required to work varying shifts, weekends, and holidays, based on operational needs.
