Concrete Finisher

Merlo Construction is a growing self-perform commercial concrete and excavation contractor building commercial and industrial projects across Metro Detroit. We're looking for skilled concrete finishers who take pride in a clean, level pour and consistently hit their numbers.

Job Locations: Projects throughout Southeast and South-Central Michigan. Daily travel to jobsites is required.

Schedule: Full-time

What You'll Do

• Finish all phases of concrete flatwork, including floors, sidewalks, parking lots, curbs, walkways, and walls, using rakes, screeds, floats, edgers, and trowels
• Operate a variety of tools and equipment, including bull floats, straight edges, hand floats, edgers, brooms, and power trowels
• Grind, patch, and repair concrete surfaces as needed
• Set edge formwork straight and to grade
• Place wire mesh and rebar
• Maintain clean, organized tools, equipment, and jobsites throughout the workday
• Meet daily production goals while maintaining high standards of quality and workmanship

Safety

• Safety is the top priority on every Merlo job
• OSHA 10 certification and additional safety training provided
• Weekly toolbox talks
• Work in an open "see something, say something" environment where every crew member is encouraged to speak up about safety concerns

Requirements

Required

• 2+ years of commercial or industrial concrete finishing experience
• Proficiency with standard concrete finishing tools and equipment
• Valid government-issued ID
• Reliable and punctual attendance
• Professional, respectful attitude toward coworkers and crew members

Preferred

• ACI certification
• Experience operating ride-on and walk-behind power trowels
• Laser screed experience
• Curb and wall finishing background
• Experience using concrete saws and grinders
• Class A CDL

Equipment Experience

Preferred experience operating or working with:

• Ride-on and walk-behind power trowels
• Laser screeds
• Skid Steers
• Concrete buggies
• Laser levels

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to stand, kneel, bend, and work on your feet for extended periods
• Willing to travel to jobsites across Southeast and South-Central Michigan

Work Environment

Mostly outdoor work in all weather, uneven ground, amid active jobsites, loud equipment, and nearby traffic. Some projects also involve indoor work.
