Used Car Sales Manager Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the used vehicle department, ensuring an efficient, customer-focused sales process
  • Develop and execute sales strategies to achieve volume, gross profit, and departmental performance goals
  • Recruit, coach, mentor, and develop a high-performing sales team while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
  • Manage inventory acquisition, merchandising, pricing, appraisals, and reconditioning to maximize profitability and market competitiveness
  • Partner with finance, service, and other dealership departments to create a seamless customer experience
  • Monitor market trends, competitive activity, and compliance requirements to drive informed business decisions
  • Build strong relationships with customers and internal team members

Used Car Sales Manager Qualifications:

  • Proven success in automotive sales with previous management or leadership experience
  • Strong understanding of used vehicle operations, including inventory management, pricing strategy, appraisals, and reconditioning
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop successful sales teams
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills
  • Experience using dealership management systems and CRM software
  • High level of integrity and commitment to customer satisfaction
  • High school diploma or equivalent required, college degree preferred
  • Valid driver's license required
