At Lakewood, we are dedicated to enhancing the lives of our residents by providing engaging and meaningful recreational activities. We are currently seeking a Programming Coordinator to work closely with the Program Manager in planning, scheduling, and organizing activities that enrich the lives of our senior residents.

Job Requirements:

  • Associate degree preferred. A background in gerontology, recreation or therapeutic background is a plus.
  • Prior experience in a senior living community is a plus.
  • Must be over 18 years of age with a high school diploma or GED.
  • Must obtain Certified Dementia Practitioner certification within 12 months of hire.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and One Drive.
  • Previous experience in gerontological care is preferred.
  • Strong planning, organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Support and uphold the Mission, Vision, and Values of LifeSpire of Virginia.
  • Develop and coordinate a schedule of activities that cater to the individual and collective needs of residents.
  • Communicate schedules through monthly and daily calendars and notices, ensuring residents are well-informed of upcoming events.
  • Handle administrative tasks, including transportation, catering, room reservations, and housekeeping requests.
  • Ensure activity equipment and supplies are well-maintained and readily available.
  • Maintain accurate records for event registration and attendance.
  • Promote resident participation in scheduled events and activities.
  • Accompany residents on trips outside the community, providing a safe and enjoyable experience.
  • Drive company vehicles for resident trips and programming needs.
  • Strive to enhance resident satisfaction through feedback, suggestions, and active problem-solving.
  • Process invoices and company purchasing card expenses efficiently.
  • Participate in educational opportunities as required.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all resident-related information.
  • Follow all policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms regularly.
  • Occasionally lift, carry, or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required for close, distance, and color vision.
  • Dexterity to operate standard office equipment, including a computer keyboard and mouse.
  • May encounter sights, sounds, and bodily odors typical in a healthcare setting.
