Position Summary 

ABRA Auto Body Post Falls is seeking a Body Shop Porter to join our team. This is an ideal foot-in-the-door opportunity for individuals interested in growing into paint prep, painting, or body repair. You’ll work closely with technicians and painters, gaining hands-on experience in a professional collision repair environment with clear growth potential into a Body Shop Prepper or Technician Apprentice role.

Responsibilities

As a Body Shop Porter, you would be responsible for ensuring customers’ vehicles are returned to them in a timely manner and in accordance with company and applicable safety and quality standards. You should pay close attention to detail and take great pride in your finished product. Continued training is provided, with opportunities for advancement for the right candidate. 

• Ensuring customer vehicles are clean and free of debris, dust, and repair residue
• Conducting thorough interior and exterior inspections for cleanliness and quality
• Verifying all lights, blinkers, and basic exterior equipment are functioning properly
• Washing and detailing vehicle interiors and exteriors (including door/trunk jambs, windows, wheels, truck beds, and under-hood areas)
• Safely moving customer and dealership vehicles to and from sublet vendors as assigned
• Completing safety and quality checklists prior to vehicle delivery
• Communicating effectively with technicians regarding repairs or concerns
• Maintaining shop cleanliness, including disposal of trash, damaged parts, and cardboard

Qualifications

• A self-motivated team player that is able to communicate effectively with team members
• Able to stand or walk on hard surfaces for the majority of shift while exposed to elevated noise and chemicals. Must be able to stoop, bend, and twist on a daily basis.
• Can carry up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift up to 70.
• Able to safely operate a wide variety of cars, trucks, SUVs, and vans, including both automatic and manual transmissions.
• Have a valid driver’s license.
• Pass a motor vehicle report and possess a safe driving record.
• Pass a criminal background check and pre employment drug test (testing includes marijuana). Also subject to random drug testing at the company’s request.

  PHYSICAL DEMANDS and WORKING ENVIRONMENT

  The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The Body Shop Porter physical requirements include:

  • Standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day
  • Employee is regularly required to talk and hear
  • The employee must be able to lift or move items at least 50 pounds
  • Vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions

  Team Members regularly works 40 hours per week.  While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member will typically be outside on the Sales Lot. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, outside weather conditions and combustibles. Fast paced working environment at times, but typically the environment is quiet and calm. The noise level in the work environment is quiet to moderately loud. If walking through the service areas can be exposed to loud noises and dangerous work environments.
