Summary

This position is directly responsible for assisting in the production of new accounts and the retention of existing insurance accounts through analysis and exercise of good judgment. Provides prompt, efficient, friendly, high-quality service to designated accounts in support of Producer activities. Communicates consistently and positively with clients to reinforce our “Client-first” service philosophy. Builds and maintains good relationships with clients and office staff. Follows agency established procedures and guidelines to perform assigned duties.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5 years insurance agency experience
  • NC Department of Insurance Property & Casualty License
  

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to discuss, support, analyze, and sell insurance products in states where the agency functions.
  • Ability to use personal computer, calculator, agency automation system, and proficiency in various software programs, including but not limited to Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) Applied EPIC, etc.
  • Must have excellent communication skills; written and verbal.
  • Must be an assertive self-starter with the ability to exercise good judgment to  influence others.
  • Must excel at being client focused and able to work in a team-oriented environment
  • Should have demonstrated effective presentation skills through both verbal and written communication
  

Supervisory Responsibilities

May have some supervisory responsibilities as the business grows.

 

  

Essential Functions

  • Analyzes risk management recommendations for new clients and renewals
  • Manages a full client book of business with more complex accounts by meeting with clients or prospective clients, collecting relevant information, and analyzing the information to compare and evaluate product options for each client based on that client’s individual needs and objectives
  • Works closely with Producers on new prospects to maximize success by analyzing options available to new prospects, explaining and discussing those options, and making recommendations
  • Conducts periodic service calls for designated accounts
  • Exercises independent judgment when appropriate on analyzing and resolving claims, payment problems, loss control, and renewals
  • Performs special projects at the request of designated clients upon approval of manager
  • Minimizes potential for errors & omissions claims by independently managing time and responsibilities to ensure timeliness and completeness when interacting with clients, agency, and company personnel
  • Reviews existing accounts to determine if additional lines of insurance should be solicited and recommends possible courses of action prior to renewal
  • Analyzes all terminations and cancellations and exercises independent judgment to determine correct course of action
  • Follows up on outstanding claims and provides assistance in their resolution
  • Monitors audits done by carriers and manages the Agency’s handling of these audits
  • Maintains continuing education as needed for insurance license and appropriate professional insurance designation (CIC, CISR, or CPSR)
  • Assists in the training and auditing of new account managers and team support specialists
  • Engage in promotion and business development activities through interaction with the public and networking and maintaining relationships with current or prospective clients
  • Performs other functions as assigned by management
  

Physical Demands

This is primarily a sedentary role; however, some filing is required, which would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand, as necessary. 

 

  

Work Environment

This job operates in a clerical, office setting. This position routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, a phone, a copier, filing cabinets, and a fax machine.

 

  

Travel

Occasional travel may be required.
