Kaleidoscope, a non-profit, child welfare organization located in Chicago, Illinois is seeking to fill the position of Support Services Specialist- Part time. This position is expected to work between 18-22 hours per week. Must have access to vehicle as this position requires traveling within the Chicagoland area and suburbs.

General Description

The Supportive Services Specialist provides short-term supportive services to assigned families to assist the child and family team to meet therapeutic goals.  This includes, but not limited to therapeutic respite, childcare, transportation, and parent support.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Position-Specific

  • Demonstrates agency clinical philosophy in all aspects of program activities.
  • Provides therapeutic respite, or interim support to youth and caregivers.
  • Serves as a case aide to the programs (e.g., providing transportation, pick up documentation, childcare during meetings).
  • Attends trainings related to youth’s needs and uses appropriate therapeutic respite techniques based on this training as requested.
  • Attends family meetings as requested.
  • Provides transportation for youth or parent to and from home, school, activities, and/or services as part of respite services.
  • Completes timely and accurate documentation of services provided.
  • Completes other duties as assigned by the Director of Foster Care and Adoptions.

Educational Requirements/General Qualifications

Minimum Degree Required: High School Diploma

Minimum Experience Required: 1 year of social service or related field

Other Requirements: Full time use of personal insured vehicle and valid drivers license.
