The Automotive Parts Counter Associate is responsible for providing excellent customer service, assisting with selling and distributing automotive parts, and ensuring proper inventory management. This position requires knowledge of automotive parts, systems, and repair procedures and the ability to quickly identify parts and ensure accuracy in sales and order fulfillment. Key Responsibilities:
- Customer Service & Sales Support:
- Greet customers and assist with identifying and sourcing the correct automotive parts for repairs, maintenance, or upgrades.
- Provide expert advice on part compatibility, pricing, and availability.
- Answer customer inquiries via phone, email, or in person and provide professional recommendations.
- Upsell and cross-sell parts and accessories where appropriate.
- Accurately process parts orders from walk-in customers, phone calls, and online orders.
- Ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment, including pulling parts, preparing invoices, and handling returns and exchanges.
- Coordinate special orders or back-ordered parts with suppliers and update customers on the status.
- Maintain a well-organized, stocked, and clean parts counter.
- Assist with receiving and stocking new parts, checking for accuracy, and maintaining inventory levels.
- Conduct periodic inventory counts and assisted with parts inventory replenishment as needed.
- Monitor parts inventory levels and advise management on reordering needs.
- Utilize parts catalogs, computer systems, and databases to search for and identify parts and verify part numbers and descriptions.
- Stay updated on the latest automotive parts, tools, and industry trends.
- Provide customers with advice on installation and troubleshooting of automotive parts.
- Identify and recommend appropriate replacement parts for various vehicles, including domestic, foreign, and aftermarket options.
- Ensure proper documentation for each sale, including warranty information and installation guidance.
- Collaborate with the service and repair departments to ensure parts availability for vehicle repairs.
- Communicate with vendors and suppliers to ensure accurate order fulfillment and address any discrepancies or issues with parts.
- Assist with arranging special orders and returns as needed.
- Meet or exceed individual and department sales goals.
- Provide high customer service to ensure customer satisfaction and repeat business.
- Handle customer complaints and issues professionally and efficiently.
Qualifications:
- Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required; certification in automotive technology or related fields is preferred.
- Must be 18 or older and authorized to work in the United States.
- Experience: Experience in automotive parts sales or a similar customer service role is preferred but not required.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of automotive parts, systems, and terminology.
- Ability to use automotive parts catalogs and software systems.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Basic computer and point-of-sale (POS) system proficiency.
- Being bilingual is a plus!
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry parts up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand for long periods and work in a warehouse environment.
Work Environment:
- This position involves working at the parts counter of an automotive service center or parts store.
- The fast-paced environment requires multitasking and dealing with a high volume of customer inquiries.
