A Used Car Technician performs repairs and maintenance on vehicles in accordance with dealer and factory standards, aiming to build customer loyalty through trust and confidence in the dealership's ability to ensure vehicle safety and reliability. This involves diagnosing and resolving issues, replacing components, and documenting work performed, often in a fast-paced environment. 
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose and Repair: Identify and resolve mechanical and electrical problems, ensuring vehicles are in optimal condition for sale. 
     
  • Perform Maintenance: Carry out routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, tire rotations, and fluid top-ups, as outlined on repair orders. 
     
  • Replace Components: Install new or repaired parts, ensuring proper fit and functionality. 
     
  • Document Work: Accurately record all repairs and maintenance performed on repair orders. 
     
  • Customer Interaction: May interact with customers to explain repairs and answer questions. 
     
  • Maintain a Clean Workspace: Keep work areas tidy, organized, and safe. 
     
  • Follow Procedures: Adhere to dealership and factory procedures for repairs and maintenance. 
     
  • Road Test Vehicles: Test repaired vehicles to ensure proper functionality and diagnose any remaining issues. 
     
  • Stay Updated: Keep abreast of new technologies and repair techniques. 
     
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Mechanical Knowledge: Strong understanding of automotive systems and components. 
     
  • Diagnostic Skills: Ability to use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify problems.
