Job Summary

Supports daily operations by serving as the key driver responsible for the safe transport, delivery, and pickup of equipment. Assists with the daily workflow by providing support for the shop environment, including setup, and basic service and repairs needs through a high level of customer service.

Responsibilities and Duties 

• Operates company vehicles (including flatbed/open-style trucks) to transport equipment, properly securing all loads for transit and performing thorough setups at customer sites or shop locations.
• Assists the mechanic team with basic service and repair needs associated with routine, entry-level customer orders.
• Promotes customer relations and satisfaction by completing jobs on schedule or connecting with customers, in a timely manner, to give them updates on issues such as quotes, unattainable replacement parts and warranty issues.
• Collaborates with front counter staff to coordinate and schedule deliveries and unit setups, ensuring timely and efficient service.
• Prepares and sets up units and equipment, and assists customers during pick-up and drop-off processes.
• Transports equipment, parts, and supplies for various needs associated with the shop and retail store.
• Provides knowledgeable assistance, loads and unloads equipment and maintains a high level of service standards by performing work in a manner which consistently achieves a high level of customer satisfaction.
• Maintains a neat and orderly work environment, including all product displays and works safely and complies with all established safety rules and work practices.
• Protects the store against theft or other suspicious activity by immediately reporting suspicious activity to manager on duty. 
• Keeps supervisor informed of important information developments, potential problems, and related information necessary for effective management.  Coordinates and communicates plans and activities with others, as appropriate, to ensure a coordinated work effort and team approach.
• Performs related work as apparent or assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. • High school education or equivalent.
• At least one year of experience in mechanical repair and light industrial products.
• Ability to communicate effectively with others including customers.
• Experience driving a large/long vehicle
• Strong service orientation.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Experience with a forklift is strongly preferred.
• Experience securing equipment on a flat bed/open style truck.
• Lawn and garden equipment knowledge is strongly preferred.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and a proven clean driving record.
• Familiar with the basic use of PC.
• Demonstrates Northern Tool + Equipment’s 12 Core Competencies.
