ESSENTIAL DUTIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Scheduling your time and appointments. If you have no work scheduled you will be dispatched work as available in the shop.
  • Opening and closing of your repair orders on a daily basis. This includes obtaining all necessary purchase orders.
  • Billing all parts and lubricants from the service truck inventory. Inventory on the truck will be taken periodically.
  • Maintenance and proper servicing of the service truck you are assigned. Interstate Truck Center will supply parts, fuel and tires. Keeping the service truck clean inside and outside in order to maintain a high visual image to customers.
  • Performs work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards.
  • Diagnoses cause of any malfunction and performs repair.
  • Communicates with parts department to obtain needed parts.
  • Saves and tags parts of the job if under warranty or if requested by the customer.
  • Examines assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended.
  • Communicates with customer immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time.
  • Documents all work performed and recommended on the repair order
  • Road tests vehicles when required.
  • Participates in manufacturer sponsored training programs, schools, and events.
  • Keeps abreast of manufacturer technical bulletins.
  • Completes all training deemed necessary by the Service and/or Training Manager.
  • Reports machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor.
  • Ensures that vehicle is kept clean. Notifies service advisor/dispatcher immediately of anything that has happened to change the appearance or condition of the vehicle
  • Maintains and is accountable for all dealership-owned tools and manuals. Returns them to the proper place and in the same condition as when they were received.
  • Understands, keeps abreast of, and complies with federal, state, and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, etc.
  • Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner.
  • Reports any safety issues immediately to management.
  • Will receive required training on the safe and proper method of handling and disposing of Hazardous Waste Material. Training will consist of Basic Hazardous Waste Management, Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure, Universal Waste Management, and safety. Training will be annually, conducted in house by the Hazardous Waste Coordinator or Service Manager.
  • Will receive the required training in emergency procedures pertaining to Above Ground Petroleum Tanks and Contingency Plans as it pertains to their department.
  • Will be trained in measures to be taken in the event of a fire and/or explosion.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Heavy truck dealership experience
  • Must have clean valid drivers license. CDL preferred.
