Office Controller 

Our Office Controllers are responsible for the financial health and operational integrity of our dealerships. They lead the accounting office, ensure compliance with company policies and manufacturer requirements, and provide the financial reporting necessary to support sound business decisions.

We're seeking an experienced Office Controller to oversee dealership accounting operations and lead a team of administrative professionals. This position plays a critical role in managing financial reporting, internal controls, payroll processes, and overall office performance. The ideal candidate is a strong leader with dealership accounting experience, exceptional attention to detail, and a commitment to accuracy and accountability.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all dealership accounting and administrative functions, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Prepare and review monthly financial statements and submit manufacturer financial reports in accordance with established deadlines.
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, cash management, and general ledger activities.
  • Review and approve vehicle deals, ensuring accuracy of commissions, payoffs, taxes, licensing, and supporting documentation.
  • Monitor and reconcile schedules, inventory accounts, floor plan accounts, deposits, warranty receivables, and other balance sheet accounts.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, manufacturer requirements, accounting standards, and applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Lead, train, develop, and evaluate office personnel while promoting a culture of accountability and teamwork.
  • Coordinate internal audits and assist with external audits, tax preparation, and financial reviews.
  • Analyze financial performance and provide recommendations to dealership leadership to improve profitability and operational efficiency.
  • Maintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial accuracy.
  • Partner with dealership leadership to support strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting, and operational initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • Previous automotive dealership accounting experience required.
  • Prior experience as an Office Manager, Assistant Controller, Controller, or similar accounting leadership role preferred.
  • Strong understanding of dealership financial statements, schedules, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and manufacturer reporting.
  • Exceptional organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven leadership ability with experience managing and developing office staff.
  • Proficiency with accounting software, dealership management systems, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information with professionalism and integrity.
