or

Location: Huntington Learning Center – Cedar Park and Round Rock, TX
Position Type: Part-time, in-person

Pay: $22/hr for SAT/ACT instruction, $20/hr for one-on-one high school math tutoring. Annual cost-of-living raises. Paid training.

Schedule: Weekday evenings Monday-Thursday (4:30-8:30 PM) and Saturdays (9:00 AM-3:30 PM). Minimum 2 shifts per week, same shifts each week.

About the role

High school students come to our Cedar Park center to raise their SAT and ACT scores and get ahead in Algebra, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus. You'll work with them one-on-one, teaching the math that's tested and the strategies that move scores. We supply the curriculum, the practice tests, and the students. You supply the clear explanations and the "lightbulb moments."

All of our teachers train on the Huntington Learning Center program first, so you'll also work with younger students on foundational math and basic reading skills. If you only want to teach SAT/ACT prep, this isn't the right fit; if you like teaching across ages, you'll stay busy year-round.

Why instructors like working here

  • Paid training on the Huntington SAT/ACT method, including the digital SAT and the new Enhanced ACT
  • Curriculum and practice materials are provided, and prep time is paid. You'll arrive before each session to get set up, but there's no lesson planning at home
  • No parent meetings. Our directors handle progress updates and scheduling
  • A professional center environment, not private homes
  • Part-time and full-time administrative roles are filled from our teaching team, for those interested in growing with us

What you'll do

  • Teach SAT/ACT math content and test-taking strategy, one-on-one
  • Tutor high school math courses (Algebra I & II, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus) as needed
  • Teach Learning Center sessions in foundational math and basic reading skills, one-on-one or in small groups
  • Break hard problems into steps students can repeat on their own
  • Keep brief session notes on each student's progress (training provided)

What you bring

  • Bachelor's degree (math, science, engineering, or a related field preferred). Teaching certification is preferred but not required
  • Strong command of high school math through Pre-Calculus (Calculus a plus)
  • Ability to explain tricky problems simply and teach strategy, not just content
  • Comfort teaching basic reading and writing skills to younger students (training provided)
  • Reliable transportation
  • Availability for at least 2 of the shifts above, every week

A great fit for current or retired teachers, engineers, grad students, and professionals who enjoy teaching.
