The Homeowner Services Director is vital to the successful operation of Lakeshore Habitat for Humanity. A successful candidate would be expected to uphold the Values of Lakeshore Habitat for Humanity:

The Homeowner Services Director provides leadership and management to the homeowner-partner selection and homeowner support activities of Lakeshore Habitat for Humanity. Including, facilitating the homeowner application process, supporting the home-repair application process, building strategic community partners, working to keep Habitat homeowners connected once they have moved into their home and managing the Homeowner Services team.

Homeowner Services Director primary duties may include:

Coordinate selection of qualified homeowner-partners by:

  • Promoting Habitat for Humanity to potential applicants through various outlets.
  • Connecting with applicants as they fill out interest forms.
  • Facilitating program orientations.
  • Processing potential homeowner applications and following up with applicants.
  • Overseeing and leading the Homeowner Selection Committee.
  • Preparing homeowner partner recommendations for the Lakeshore Habitat board to consider.

Coordinate the support of Lakeshore Habitat Homeowner partners by:

  • Maintaining communication with homeowner partners.
  • Providing homeowner partner follow-up care & support.
  • Acting as the homeowner partner liaison & advocate with all departments.
  • Ensuring that each homeowner candidate is accomplishing their program goals in a timely manner.
  • Coordinating homeowner partner education classes, workshops and sweat equity opportunities.
  • Coordinating ground breakings and house dedications to include homeowners and donors.
  • Assisting with closings in cooperation with the Homeowner Finance Coordinator.

 

Other Duties:

  • Review and recommend revisions to the Lakeshore Habitat for Humanity selection criteria with the Homeowner Selection Committee and the Executive Director.
  • Partner with Marketing & Communication Manager to capture homeowner impact and stories.
  • Provide leadership, support and management to the Home Repair Manager
  • Lead and coordinate the annual homeowner picnic.
  • Oversee and assist multiple Homeowner Associations (HOAs) through different phases of development until they are prepared for transition to the homeowners.
  • Ability to meet physical demands and perform the essential job functions within the work environment, including travel requirements identified in this job description.

Our idea candidate would have most of the following experiences and qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work or similar field
  • 3 to 5 years’ experience in a social work environment
  • Ability to effectively communicate in Spanish
  • Familiar with fair housing and fair lending laws
  • Familiar with the home mortgage process and requirements
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  • Positive and affirming personality
  • High level of commitment to the “people” side of the Habitat mission

 

Additional Information:

This position will require occasional local travel along the lakeshore (Ottawa, Allegan, and Van Buren counties), as well as evening or weekend hours for special events.
