THE ROLE...

The Facilities & Groundskeeper is responsible for the overall upkeep, maintenance, and functionality of Horseshoe Canyon Ranch. This role ensures that all grounds, campsites, roads, and facilities are safe, clean, and well-maintained for guests and staff. The ideal candidate is hands-on, dependable, and comfortable working outdoors in a rugged environment, with the ability to operate equipment and proactively identify and resolve maintenance needs.


Summary of Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Walk the property daily, including campsites, trails, roads, and common areas, to assess conditions and identify maintenance needs.
  • Maintain the overall appearance of the ranch, including lawns, landscaping, campsites, and outdoor gathering spaces.
  • Trim bushes, shrubs, and trees; clear debris; and ensure grounds are clean and presentable at all times.
  • Pick up and remove trash throughout the property; maintain and empty trash and recycling containers.
  • Apply fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides as directed.
  • Assist with seasonal property needs such as weather-related cleanup and maintenance.
  • Perform general maintenance and repairs on buildings, restrooms, cabins, and shared facilities.
  • Complete minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical repairs as needed.
  • Ensure all equipment, fixtures, and systems are functioning properly and address issues promptly.
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks and assist with larger repair projects or contractors when needed.
  • Maintain a safe and compliant work environment, following all safety procedures and regulations.
  • Maintain ranch roads, including grading, leveling, drainage management, and general upkeep.
  • Operate and maintain equipment such as tractors, mowers, utility vehicles, and other machinery.
  • Perform routine maintenance on tools and power equipment to ensure proper functionality.
  • Assist with moving materials, supplies, and equipment across the property.
  • Ensure all public areas, campsites, and facilities meet cleanliness and safety standards.
  • Respond to guest requests in a timely, professional, and helpful manner.
  • Maintain a high standard of guest relations when interacting with visitors.
  • Assist with event setup, breakdown, and general operational support as needed.
  • Assist with inventory of maintenance supplies and notify leadership of needed materials.
  • Support team members across departments when needed and proactively assist when tasks are completed.
  • Follow all property standards, policies, and procedures in daily operations.

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in groundskeeping, facilities maintenance, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience operating equipment such as tractors or similar machinery strongly preferred.
  • Strong work ethic with the ability to work independently and manage daily tasks effectively.
  • Comfortable performing physical labor outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, or general maintenance is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to remain calm and adaptable in various situations.
  • Good communication and multitasking skills.
  • Flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
