Like variety? This may be the caregiving role for you.

Our Rapid Response Caregiver helps us make sure a client is never left without care when another Caregiver can't make it to a scheduled shift.

You’ll work 5 days a week and need to be ready to go each morning. Some days you’ll head directly to a client who needs you. Other days, you’ll come into the Home Instead office and help our team until you're needed in the field.

No professional caregiving experience? That’s okay. We provide paid training and ongoing support to help you succeed.

Pay

  • $22.00/hour – weekday day and evening shifts

  • $24.00/hour – weekend and overnight shifts

  • +$0.25/hour technology incentive

How Rapid Response Works

This role requires more flexibility than a traditional Caregiver position.

On your scheduled workdays:

  • Be dressed, ready and available by 7:30 a.m.

  • Answer your phone beginning at 7:30 a.m. and return missed calls within 5 minutes

  • Keep your phone charged and make sure you can be reached

  • Be prepared to begin a client shift as early as 8:00 a.m. and work as late as 8:00 p.m.

  • If you aren't called to a client assignment, report to the Home Instead office by 8:00 a.m.

  • Be prepared to travel to client assignments throughout our service area

When You’re With a Client

You'll provide the same care and support as our other Caregivers, which may include:

  • Companionship and personal care

  • Help with daily activities

  • Meal preparation and light housekeeping

  • Medication assistance as trained and permitted

  • Safe mobility and transfers

  • Support for clients with Alzheimer’s or dementia

  • Following the client's care plan and communicating changes or concerns

When You’re in the Office

When you aren't covering a client shift, you'll help keep things moving at the office. This may include:

  • Completing assigned office tasks

  • Helping answer phones

  • Providing administrative support

What You’ll Need

Reliable transportation is required. You'll need to be able to respond quickly and travel throughout Lake Oswego, West Portland and Downtown Portland.

You'll also need to:

  • Have current Driver's License and current auto insurance

  • Successfully complete required criminal background checks

  • Pass a pre-employment drug screening (we do not test for marijuana)

  • Be able to perform the essential duties of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation, including occasionally lifting up to 25 pounds

Experience with Alzheimer's, dementia, medication assistance or professional caregiving is helpful, but not required.
