Engineering DevOps Summer Internship: Chicago

The Summer Internship program at Hireology gives college students entering their Senior year a unique opportunity to learn about the SaaS industry by working side by side with seasoned experts. You will gain hands-on leadership experience while learning about the different business channels within the organization.

Hireology internships are real jobs with real impact. The ten-week summer internship is designed to fully immerse bright, motivated students in the day-to-day activities of one of our departments. The program includes ongoing information sessions where interns learn about the firm, including the benefits and responsibilities of being a member of the Hireology Team, professional and self-guided learning, and networking opportunities. You will also receive department-specific training designed to help you succeed. We are excited to have our Engineering Interns join us at Hireology for a 10 consecutive weeks.

Join our team as a Software Engineering Intern and play a vital role in a critical infrastructure project. You'll be working directly with experienced engineers to implement an abstraction layer for our Amazon S3 interactions, paving the way for a future migration to Azure Blob Storage. This internship offers hands-on experience in cloud systems, cloud storage, and design patterns.

As a Software Engineering Intern, your experiences will include:

• Collaborating with and learning from experienced software developers in the design, development, maintenance of our application
• Helping to implement an easy to use, continuously deployed product
• Improving system performance and responsiveness
• Participating in design reviews, coding modules, code reviews, unit testing and automated acceptance testing, and/or DevOps tasks
• Partnering closely with our product and business teams to ensure that we are delivering the best possible outcomes for our internal and external customers
   

Okay, we’ve laid out what the job is - now are you qualified?

• Able to work in downtown Chicago for the summer, for a duration of 10 consecutive weeks
• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or other related field
• Experience building software as part of coursework, internships, or personal projects
• Interest in building high-performance scalable web applications, using frontend technologies such as React and/or backend frameworks such as .Net C# or Ruby on Rails
• Has an understanding of API driven architecture including RESTful services.
• Excited about delivering quality and are familiar with unit and acceptance testing frameworks
• Fearless about learning new technologies and technical approaches to application development
