Role Overview:
As a key member of our maintenance team, the Fleet & Equipment Mechanic is responsible for ensuring all company vehicles, landscaping machinery, and small engines are in optimal working condition. This role involves diagnosing, repairing, and performing preventive maintenance on a variety of equipment to minimize downtime and ensure safety and reliability in daily operations. Your work directly supports the company's ability to deliver high-quality lawn care services efficiently and safely across the Belvidere area.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose, repair, and perform routine maintenance on a wide range of equipment including small engines, diesel trucks, trailers, and landscape machinery.
- Conduct repairs and scheduled preventative maintenance to maximize equipment uptime and longevity.
- Read and interpret manuals, schematics, and work orders for accurate troubleshooting and repair.
- Test and repair small engine hand tools such as mowers, string trimmers, backpack blowers, augers, and other power tools.
- Perform oil changes, track repairs, and handle miscellaneous repairs as needed.
- Monitor operational performance and troubleshoot complex issues promptly, always prioritizing safety and quality.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, keeping tools and equipment in excellent condition.
- Manage parts inventory, order necessary supplies, and liaise with suppliers for timely procurement.
- Use maintenance software to document repairs, track work progress, and maintain accurate service records.
- Follow all safety protocols and company policies diligently, fostering a safety-conscious work culture.
- Support staff training on equipment maintenance, safety procedures, and proper use.

- Welding and fabrication experience is a plus.

- Work outdoors in various weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, dust, and noise.
- Regular travel for on-site repairs.
