Basic Function: TheWarehouse Supervisor – Main is responsible for overseeing shipping, receiving, and logistics activities to ensure efficient and accurate movement of goods into and out of the warehouse. This role plays a critical part in maintaining smooth logistical operations, coordinating transportation, and aligning shipping processes with company standards for quality, safety, and efficiency.
Essential Functions:
- Participates with other managers/supervisors, as appropriate, in establishing department goals and work objectives.
- Assists with the development of and implements efficient shipping, receiving, and logistics processes.
- Ensures that all approved shipping and receiving plans are properly implemented through involvement and communications with appropriate warehouse personnel.
- Provides direction, guidance, and control over assigned warehouse operations to ensure:
- Accurate and timely receiving of inbound shipments, including inspection, documentation, and initial processing.
- Efficient shipping of outbound orders, including packing, labeling, and preparation for transport.
- Coordination of logistics and transportation, including carrier selection, scheduling, and tracking to optimize delivery times and costs.
- Management of warehouse space utilization for incoming and outgoing goods, ensuring optimal flow and minimal bottlenecks.
- Handling of special shipments, such as hazardous materials or oversized items, in compliance with regulations.
- Oversees the execution of shipping schedules and tracking of outbound deliveries.
- Enforce safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free warehouse environment. Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company standards.
- Works closely with supply chain, sales and other departments to ensure smooth operations. Communicate effectively to resolve issues and support operational goals.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Keeps supervisor informed of important developments, potential problems, and all related information necessary for effective management.
- Performs related work as apparent or assigned.
- Attends training as determined from GNE.
Secondary Functions:
- Performs day to day tasks as needed in overflow/staff absence situations.
- Participates in safety programs in line with company requirement that are in support of any local, state or federal regulations.
- Assists with security of the building and its contents. Opens/closes building as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience:
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 5 years of general warehouse experience.
- At least 2 year of related supervisory experience.
- Strong people skills with ability to relate to people's needs and concerns while still being able to accomplish the Company's goals.
- Proven ability to manage more than one function and to provide work direction to others.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Must exhibit strong leadership and sound decision-making qualities.
- Ability to relate well to others and gain the respect of employees.
- Solid PC skills, spreadsheet development abilities and working knowledge of designated software.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with a wide variety of Company personnel and others.
- Knowledge and/or experience with safety training and compliance (forklift, OSHA)
- Experience with small package and/or LTL shipping.
Preferred
- Associate or bachelor’s degree or equivalent in business administration, management, or other appropriate field.
- Experience with company with high Sku count and multiple divisions and warehouse zones strongly preferred.
- First aid/CPR certification.
