What You'll Do

The Float Associate provides support across all areas of Nutritional Services, assisting with food preparation, customer service, and kitchen operations. This role is flexible and cross-trained to help in multiple functions, ensuring smooth daily operations, adherence to food safety standards, and a positive experience for customers, patients, and staff.

  • Assists in cleaning and maintaining the kitchen, pantry, storage areas, and equipment.
  • May prepare raw ingredients as assigned.
  • Reports when material and supply stock levels are low.
  • Meal preparation duties include but are not limited to: Preparing and packing hot and cold meals in accordance with recipes, temping food, transferring food to and from the kitchen, showing knowledge of food safety and sanitation guidelines, etc.
  • Greets and serves customers in the café, including employees, patients, and visitors.
  • Patient interactions include answering phone calls, receiving meal orders, informing patients about services available, explaining menu items, providing suggestions to patients when asked, etc.
  • Duties include cleaning food service area, kitchen and cafeteria as required.
  • Dishwashing duties include cleaning cooking areas, utensils, and equipment in the kitchen, washing and sorting flatware, serving dishes, china, and glasses, and operating a dishwashing machine.
  • Cross trains with other members of the Nutritional Services Department including Cooks, Utilities Workers, Banquet staff, etc.
  • May operate a cash register to process Café purchases.
  • May assist with conference room accommodation and Meals on Wheels preparation at times.
  • Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
  • Performs a variety of tasks and other duties as assigned.

Who We're Looking For

  • This role requires strong English communication skills. Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous food service experience preferred.
  • Must obtain Food Handler Certification from an ANSI accredited program within one month of hire and maintain current status throughout GRHD employment.

  • Pay Range: $20.43 - $29.76/hour (based on experience)
  • Shift Differentials: $2–$4/hour for nights and weekends

Compensation may vary outside this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience.
