What You'll Do

The Unit Clerk is a vital part of the Med/Surg team, providing clerical and communication support that helps ensure smooth department operations and exceptional patient care. This role serves as a central point of contact for patients, visitors, physicians, and staff while supporting admissions, discharges, patient records, and daily unit coordination in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

  • Welcome and assist patients, visitors, physicians, and staff in person and over the phone.
  • Support patient admissions, discharges, transfers, and follow-up appointment scheduling.
  • Accurately enter physician orders and maintain organized patient charts and records.
  • Respond to call lights, phone calls, and communication requests to support patient care needs.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and ensure accurate documentation and record handling.
  • Help keep the department running smoothly by monitoring supplies, organizing paperwork, and supporting daily unit operations.
  • Utilize word-processing, spreadsheet, electronic health record, and practice management systems to support department workflow.
  • Performs a variety of tasks and other duties as assigned

 

Who We're Looking For

We’re looking for a detail-oriented and compassionate professional who thrives in a fast-paced healthcare environment and enjoys supporting both patients and clinical teams. The ideal candidate will have strong communication, organizational, and computer skills, along with familiarity with clerical processes and electronic health record systems commonly used in healthcare settings.

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Minimum of two years of related healthcare experience preferred.
  • Active Colorado CNA license preferred and current American Heart Association approved BLS certification required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, electronic health records, and healthcare software systems, with the ability to become proficient in hospital platforms within six (6) months of hire.

Compensation may vary outside this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience.
