Diesel Automotive Technician

About You

We are looking for a Journeyman Diesel Service Technician to join our team! The right candidate will have a strong diesel service technician background, excellent communication skills, time-management skills, and a desire to provide superb customer service.

Primary Accountabilities

The day-to-day duties of this role include:

• Performing work on repair orders with efficiency and in accordance with dealership standards
• Diagnosing repairs needed
• Test-drive vehicles, test components and systems using diagnostic tools and special service equipment
• Diagnose, maintain, and repair vehicle diesel automotive systems including:
  • Engine
  • Transmission
  • Electrical steering
  • Suspension
  • Brakes
  • Air conditioning, etc.
• Communicates with Parts Department to obtain needed parts
• Communicate directly with the Service Advisor so customers are informed if any additional service is needed
  • Provide an estimate of time needed for additional repairs
• Execute repairs under warranty to manufacturer specifications
• Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner
• Keeps shop area neat and clean

Diesel Journeyman Service Technician Qualifications

• 2+ years of Service Technician experience
• High school diploma or equivalent, ASE certification preferred
• B level qualifications, including diagnostic, electrical and engine repair
• Dexterity, excellent hand-eye coordination
• Diesel mechanical and troubleshooting skills and ability to operate electronic diagnostic equipment
• Basic computer competencies
• Excellent customer service skills, positive, friendly attitude, with an eagerness to improve
• Enjoy working in a dynamic environment
• Ability to collaborate with other team members effectively
• Ability to learn new technology, repair and service procedures, and specifications
• Ability to lift 50 lbs. and work on your feet for extended periods of time
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record
