Summary:
Supervises, overlooks and verifies receipt of new vehicles delivered to the dealership and delivers them to the PDI department, photo booth and wash bay department to ensure they are in a retail ready condition before parking the vehicles on the new vehicle lot in an orderly manner. Overlooks and verifies used vehicles are accounted for in the right staging areas. When all reconditioning is completed, ensures vehicles are moved to the right retail area of the used car lot. Oversees daily all new and used vehicle inventory is clean and in retail ready condition. To accomplish these objectives, you must use good planning, scheduling, organizing, delegate duties, coordinate and use good communication skills to monitor the activities of your inventory control staff.
Essential Duties: Includes the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Keeps used vehicle lot neat and orderly, moving cars as directed in accordance with dealership display standards.
Keys up the used cars every morning and keys them down every evening. Documents and advises on duty used vehicle sales manager if any keys are missing. Moves vehicle with missing keys to secure space behind the building inside the fence.
Pick up and deliver vehicles from time to time to customers and vendors as directed by management.
Performs light maintenance on vehicles as needed, i.e., replaces windshield wiper blades, batteries, replenish fluids, add fuel, jump start, replace light bulbs, etc.
Keeps vehicles fueled with a minimum of 1/8 of a tank of fuel.
Ensures that all required forms, stickers, FTC buyers guides-front and back, Monroney label, plate frames and True Spot locaters have been installed and are properly displayed in accordance to dealerships standards.
Ensures all new and used inventory has Martin Plates and a Martin Badge properly installed before the vehicle is moved to the retail lot.
Check in new vehicle inventory daily from the carriers and carefully inspects every vehicle for defects and or missing parts before signing for them.
In the event Defects are found on new inventory, ensures proper photos and documentation of defects are promptly given to service warranty administrator.
Move all AAA vehicles to the detail lot and put in the area designated for them. Make sure your staff never has a hole (missing vehicle) in the entire front row at the end of every day.
Provide on the job training to all inventory control staff and reviews progress.
Stock in all new and used vehicle inventory the day it arrives.
Keep track of and put away all tools, gas cans, jump boxes, radios, boots, rain coats, trucks, blowers, bob cat etc. All equipment that is provided to the inventory control staff must be accounted for daily.
Keeps up with the maintenance of the wash truck, snow blowers, leaf blower, bobcat, chain saw, billy goat, mowers, weed eaters, chase car, etc. Check the oil and air filters weekly along with an overall visual inspection to ensure the equip and problem free.
Make sure all inventory control staff employees are presentable and dressed in approved Fred Martin attire. Weather permitting.
Make sure all point cars are rotated every other day and all point vehicle tires are tire dressed daily.
Clean and prepare aged used vehicles to be sold at auction,
Prepare set up and take down of the car connection set.
Become a key member of the flood team by monitoring water levels, deploy pumps, plug storm drains and communicates rising water and lot condition frequently.
Plow snow, oversee, schedule and be prepared for winter storms the day before. Schedule and monitors salting the lot during the winter months. Keep track of and maintain all winter snow removal equipment such as plow trucks, snow blowers, snow brooms, snow shovels, salt spreaders, bob cat, etc.
Help in setting up sales events such as tents, hang tags in vehicles, special vehicle displays etc.
Inspects equipment and vehicles for cleanliness, damage, and compliance with dealership standards and legal regulations.
Use the wash truck on the lot daily (weather permitting) to ensure new and used vehicle inventory is clean and in retail ready condition. Check the oil daily on wash pump motors.
Always keep new and used car lot display rows in a perfect strait line.
Keep track of all gasoline put in new and used vehicles by the porter staff on a daily basis.
Communicate any loss prevention ideas you may have as policy or situation changes occur.
Help in keeping entire lot clean, free of debris, spray weeds, weed eater, bobcat broom, at all times.
Ensures all gates are blocked with suitable vehicles at night with a vehicle and they are removed in the morning.
Assist in keeping customer parking area clear of company vehicles to provide ample parking for customers during peak selling times.
Strive for harmony with all departments, employees and vendors.
Ensure there is sufficient staff here daily. Hires, rewards and disciplines your staff within the guidelines of the HR department.

Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
