Buyer / Scheduler
Gainesville, GA • Supply Chain / Operations • Reports to President • Full-time, on-site
ABOUT THE ROLE
Our client, a growing pet treat manufacturer, is looking for a sharp, hands-on Buyer/Scheduler to keep raw materials, packaging, and production flowing. This is a combined role: you'll own purchasing and production scheduling, balancing supplier lead times and inventory against a live plant schedule. If you like solving puzzles where procurement, planning, and the production floor all meet, this is your seat.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Purchase ingredients, packaging, and supplies to meet production requirements while controlling cost and minimizing excess inventory.
- Build and maintain the production schedule, coordinating with plant managers, shipping/receiving, and quality to keep lines running on time.
- Manage supplier relationships: negotiate pricing and terms, track shipments and lead times, and resolve delivery or quality issues.
- Monitor inventory levels and reorder points; help avoid both stockouts and overstock of perishable or allergen-sensitive materials.
- Maintain accurate records of purchase orders, contracts, and supplier communications in the ERP/MRP system.
- Contribute to cost-savings programs and continuous-improvement initiatives.
- Support food-safety and traceability compliance (FSMA) across the supply chain.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- 4–7 years of experience in purchasing, scheduling, materials planning, or supply chain — food, CPG, or other manufacturing strongly preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of an ERP/MRP system (Exact, NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, IFS, or similar). AI implementation is currently being evaluated.
- Solid negotiation skills and comfort managing multiple suppliers and competing priorities.
- Proficiency in Excel and a head for data: lead times, reorder points, demand patterns.
- Excellent organization and communication; you'll be the link between suppliers and the production floor.
- Comfortable in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
NICE TO HAVE
- Experience in food, beverage, or pet-product manufacturing.
- Familiarity with food-safety standards and traceability requirements.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
- Base salary of $65,000 – $70,000, depending on experience.
- Health, dental, and vision insurance.
- 401(k) with company match.
- Paid time off and holidays.
- A meaningful leadership role where you help drive success.
