Job Summary
A Direct Care Worker (DCW) provides essential personal care and home support services to seniors in the Yardley area. Under supervision, the Direct Care Worker assists with hygiene, mobility, dressing, meal support, and maintaining a safe, supportive environment that enhances the dignity and independence of each client.
Organizational Relationship
Reports to the designated supervisor.
Risk of Occupational Exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens
Category B – Limited exposure.
Qualifications
Applicants must meet one of the following Pennsylvania state-approved training requirements:

Successful completion of a competency exam developed by the agency or a qualifying entity
-
Completion of an agency-created training program that meets PA regulations
-
Participation in a Medicaid Waiver or publicly funded home/community-based care program
-
Completion of a PA Department of Health-recognized program
Additional Requirements:
-
2–4 years of experience working with seniors
-
Reliable and verifiable professional references
-
Current CPR certification
-
Must pass a criminal background check, TB test, and physical
-
Professional appearance and personal hygiene
-
Speaks, reads, and writes English
-
Reliable transportation preferred
Key Responsibilities
Personal Services – Assists With:
-
Bathing (bed, tub, or shower)
-
Grooming, hair care, oral hygiene, nail care
-
Dressing, toileting, eating assistance
-
Repositioning, mobility and walking support
-
Routine skin care and applying lotion
-
Medication reminders
Homemaking – Assists With:
-
Meal prep and planning, including modified diets
-
Feeding when needed
-
Laundry and linen changes
-
Light housekeeping: dishes, vacuuming, dusting, cleaning used areas
-
Listing supplies and grocery shopping
DCWs Are Required To:
-
Follow universal precautions and infection control
-
Maintain confidentiality at all times
-
Perform only tasks listed in each client’s individualized service plan
-
Recognize/respond to changes in client condition or needs
-
Complete daily documentation accurately and submit weekly
-
Report incidents or emergencies immediately
-
Attend required annual in-service training
-
Maintain professional communication and appearance
-
Cooperate with supervisors, families, and clients
Functional Abilities
-
Ability to lift/carry up to 10 lbs up stairs
-
Able to bend, stoop, and travel locally
-
Must hear and communicate clearly in English
