Job Summary:

The Grant Accountant is responsible for financial management, budgets, match requirements, allocations, projections and compliance of foundation, state and federal grants.  This position will be responsible for set-up and financial management of multi-million-dollar budgets.  All aspects of financial activity related to grants funds will be the responsibility of the Grant Accountant, which requires a high level of knowledge and, skills to ensure the organization maintains compliance.  Provide financial leadership for grants management working closely with the Strategic Programs Team.  The position will require frequent interaction with senior leadership, department directors and staff to ensure Fahe maintains compliance according to all grant agreements. 

Essential Duties and Functions:

  • Develop methods of financial analysis and forecasting to include grant projections, grant departmental forecasting, and budget to actual comparisons to maximize funds and ensure dollars are expended as anticipated
  • Conduct complex analyses of financial scenarios on a regular basis, including planning for annual grant departmental budget allocations
  • Complete reclassifying journal entries for both revenue and expense. Reconcile grant portfolio for month-end including revenue and cash release from restrictions
  • Request drawdowns and reimbursement for all projects on a timely basis and as applicable for the funder guidelines
  • Support project manager in facilitating discussions with Members regarding pass-thru funds when they are actively partnered on externally funded projects.
  • Assist the VP of Finance with year-end audit duties including the Schedule of Expenditures of Federal Awards (SEFA) and grant funding applicable 990 schedules
  • Provides monthly budget to actual report to project managers to facilitate ongoing budget conversations and ensure that all grant funds are spent appropriately. In the event that funds are not on schedule, have discussions with project manager and relationship manager.
  • Assist project manager in preparing annual grant/project budget(s) and monthly projections. 
  • Ensure compliance with a broad range of grant-funded programs using EDGAR and the Uniform Guidance - 2 CFR 200
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local guidelines
  • Perform annual monitoring activities and ensure project files are aligned with financial records

Requirements for this position include:

  • Intermediate accounting skills
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Budget analysis skills
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills
  • Strong professional communication skills
  • Associates or Bachelors degree in related field or commensurate grant account experience required

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • 2-3 years’ experience in a related field preferred
  • Grant accounting experience preferred
  • Nonprofit accounting experience preferred
