Position Overview:

UPMA Group is seeking a strategic and process-driven HR professional to join our home office as a Corporate HR Generalist. This is a cornerstone role designed for a candidate with a strong growth mindset who will own and modernize our internal HR infrastructure.

You will be responsible for our corporate HR functions — including payroll, benefits, compensation, compliance, and technology—while working as a key strategic partner to our field-based Regional HR Manager (RHRM). Together, you will form the leadership core of our HR department, with this role focusing on building scalable systems and the RHRM focusing on field-level execution and employee support.

A critical, career-defining project for this role will be to co-lead the evaluation and implementation of a new, fully-integrated HCM platform (e.g., Paycom, UKG). As the company grows, this role has a clear path to becoming our Corporate HR Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

The Corporate HR Generalist will have ultimate ownership of all internal HR functions, working in close collaboration with the RHRM to ensure seamless alignment between corporate policy and field operations.

Own Corporate HR Systems and Processes:

  • Own the end-to-end payroll process, ensuring accuracy and compliance while overseeing data entry by support staff.

  • Manage the complete compensation cycle, including processing quarterly performance-based pay rate adjustments and administering all special pay like bonuses, stipends, and allowances.

  • Lead the annual benefits open enrollment process and manage all related administration, including carrier invoice reconciliation and compliance.

  • Maintain the integrity of our organizational structure within the HCM platform, including updating reporting hierarchies ('Reports-To'), management organization charts, and all employee directories to ensure data accuracy.

Build and Scale HR Infrastructure:

  • Serve as the primary owner of the company's Employee Handbook and all related HR policies. You will be responsible for regular updates, ensuring legal compliance, and managing all policy-related documentation.

  • Serve as our subject matter expert on HR compliance, ensuring all processes (hiring, termination, benefits) adhere to legal requirements (EEOC, FLSA, FMLA, ADA) and conducting regular audits.

  • Co-lead the upcoming migration from ADP to a new HCM platform. This will involve working closely with the RHRM to ensure the new system meets the needs of both corporate and field employees.

Serve as a Strategic Partner to the Business:

  • Collaborate with the RHRM on complex employee relations issues, providing compliance guidance and documentation support while they handle field-level investigations.

  • Manage the corporate response to all TWC unemployment claims and FMLA/leave of absence requests, using information gathered by the RHRM from the field.

  • Personally review all background checks to make informed hiring recommendations in partnership with the RHRM and field leadership.

  • Administer and track all mandatory compliance training and company-wide programs, including benefits-related training and employee perks like our fitness membership program.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. SHRM-CP or PHR certification is a strong plus.

  • 3-5+ years of progressive experience in an HR Generalist or similar role, with a strong focus on corporate functions like payroll, benefits, and HR systems.

  • A demonstrated growth mindset, with a clear ambition to not just maintain systems but to build, improve, and eventually lead.

  • Experience with HRIS/HCM system implementation or major HR projects is a significant plus.

  • Strong, practical knowledge of federal and state employment laws (e.g., FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEO).

  • Proficiency with HRIS/HCM systems (ADP experience preferred).

  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with peers and other leaders to achieve shared goals.

  • Proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.

Why This is a Career-Defining Opportunity:

  • Lead a High-Impact Tech Project: Co-leading our upcoming HCM implementation is a rare opportunity to shape the tools our company will use for the next decade.

  • Build a Best-in-Class HR Function in Partnership: You won't be on an island. You will work alongside a dedicated field HR partner to create a truly comprehensive and effective HR department.

  • Clear Path to Leadership: We are hiring for our future Corporate HR Manager. Your success in this role will directly pave the way for your advancement.

  • Strategic Impact: You will have a seat at the table, partnering directly with senior leadership on decisions that shape our company culture and support our business strategy.

If you are a systems-oriented HR professional who thrives on building efficient processes and collaborating with a strong team, we encourage you to apply.
