Groundskeeper Hotel/Convention Center - Part Time

The DoubleTree by Hilton Miami Airport Convention Center  is seeking an experienced Groundskeeper to join our team.  This position is 100% on-site, no remote work. 

 
The DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Miami Airport Convention Center is conveniently situated just south of Miami International Airport off the Dolphin Expressway adjacent to the Blue Lagoon Business District. The hotel features 334 guestrooms, onsite dining, fitness room, outdoor pool, business center, complimentary High-Speed Internet Access, 24,000 square feet of retail space, 20,000 Square feet of Hotel Meeting and Function Space and a Convention Center with 152,000 square feet of meeting, event and exhibit space.

The Groundskeeping position will be a non-exempt and will report to the Maintenance Assistant Manager.

The Groundskeeper is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, appearance, safety, and overall presentation of the exterior grounds surrounding the hotel and convention center. This position plays an important role in maintaining a clean, welcoming, and professional environment for hotel guests, convention attendees, team members, and visitors.

Primary responsibilities include collecting and disposing of trash, removing fallen leaves, branches, palm fronds, and other debris from trees and landscaped areas, maintaining outdoor walkways and parking areas, and performing general exterior upkeep throughout the property. The Groundskeeper must take a proactive approach to identifying and reporting maintenance issues, potential safety hazards, and areas requiring additional attention.

Job Responsibilities/ Functions:

Groundskeeping & Exterior Maintenance

• Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of all exterior areas surrounding the hotel and convention center.
• Conduct routine property walks to identify and remove litter, debris, fallen leaves, branches, palm fronds, and other materials from trees.
• Collect, empty, and properly dispose of trash from exterior trash receptacles, parking areas, entrances, sidewalks, landscaping beds, and other designated locations.
• Keep hotel entrances, porte-cochère, sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, loading areas, and convention center exterior spaces clean and presentable.
• Remove debris from landscaped areas, outdoor common areas, curbs, and perimeter walkways.
• Assist with basic landscaping duties, including weeding, sweeping, raking, and maintaining the appearance of planted areas.
• Perform routine sweeping, blowing, and cleanup of exterior surfaces as needed.
• Monitor outdoor areas for excessive debris, overgrown vegetation, fallen tree limbs, and other conditions requiring attention.
• Assist with property cleanup following storms, heavy rain, or high winds, within assigned duties and safety guidelines.

Hotel & Convention Center Upkeep

• Maintain the exterior presentation of the hotel and convention center to support Hilton brand standards and property cleanliness expectations.
• Conduct regular inspections of assigned exterior areas and address cleanliness concerns promptly.
• Ensure trash collection areas remain clean, orderly, and free of overflowing waste.
• Assist with exterior setup, cleanup, and general maintenance support for conventions, meetings, special events, and other property functions as assigned.
• Help maintain a clean and professional appearance around guest entrances, employee entrances, service areas, and event access points.

Teamwork & Guest Service

• Maintain a professional appearance and courteous demeanor when interacting with guests, convention attendees, vendors, and team members.
• Respond promptly to requests for exterior cleanup and assistance.
• Work collaboratively with Engineering, Housekeeping, Security, and other departments to maintain property standards.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications/ Skills:

• Previous groundskeeping, landscaping, janitorial, custodial, or general maintenance experience preferred.
• Ability to work outdoors in South Florida's heat, humidity, rain, and changing weather conditions.
• Ability to safely lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment over 50 pounds as required by the position.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the shift, with reasonable accommodation where applicable.
• Ability to operate basic groundskeeping equipment, such as leaf blowers, rakes, brooms, and carts, after appropriate instruction.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and complete assigned tasks independently.
• Strong attention to detail, reliability, and a commitment to cleanliness and safety.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays, as required by hotel operations.
