The DoubleTree by Hilton Miami Airport Convention Center  is seeking an experienced Security Manager to join our team.  This position is 100% on-site, no remote work. 

 
The DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Miami Airport Convention Center is conveniently situated just south of Miami International Airport off the Dolphin Expressway adjacent to the Blue Lagoon Business District. The hotel features 334 guestrooms, onsite dining, fitness room, outdoor pool, business center, complimentary High-Speed Internet Access, 24,000 square feet of retail space, 20,000 Square feet of Hotel Meeting and Function Space and a Convention Center with 152,000 square feet of meeting, event and exhibit space.

This position will be an exempt salary position at $60,000 to 70,000 and will report to the Assistant General Manager and General Manager.

Security Manager position monitors and patrols assigned areas to provide a safe environment for guests and employees and to minimize opportunities for loss or damage.  Acts to deter any agent or element from jeopardizing persons or property in or about the hotel's facilities. Other assigned duties beyond what is expected of a security manager are incorporated in the duties and responsibilities of a supervising officers in order to assist the Department Managers ensure the operation of an effective and responsive security department, and compliance with corporate mandates.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Review Daily Event/BEO Reports to ascertain whether scheduled events require security coverage, to include, but not be limited to, the Registration Desk, and assuring that the required security coverage is properly assigned with minimal overtime to departmental personnel and/or other hotel associates.  Overtime shall be authorized solely by the GM and AGM.  The reviewed reports shall be signed and dated.
  • Preparing the security departmental shift schedule to assure proper shift and event coverage according to the Daily Event/BEO Reports; as well as, addressing specific needs requested by departmental associates; to include, holidays, birthdays, and sick days.  Scheduled and/or unexpected (sick leave) leave will be covered by the supervisor.
  • Reviewing on a daily basis the Daily Shift Patrol Logs to assure officer compliance with assigned patrols and reporting instructions.  The reviewed report shall be signed and dated.
  • Reviewing on a daily basis the Officer Pass-Down Report Log to properly address the need for appropriate follow-up to noted security issues and/or concerns with security staff and/or other hotel departments by the director.  The reviewed log shall be signed and dated.

  • Ensure on a daily basis the Key Control, Radio Control, and IPod Control Logs for accuracy, neatness, and clarity with follow-up as to any issues that are noted, to include, damage, loss, or non-return of the subject items.  The reviewed log shall be signed and dated.
  • Ensure that keys, radios, and others devices are inspected for quality control purposes, to include, but not be limited to, damage, charge, repair, replacement, or inventory for continued effective use by hotel associates.  Request damage repair or replacement to director for follow-up action.
  • Review the Daily Guest Telephone Response Log, Guest Room Maintenance Log, MACC Key Log, Golf Maintenance Log, Fuel Log, Damage Control Logs, and any other log established in support of security duties for accuracy and procedural compliance, properly filing all procedural logs by month, and assuring the availability of new monthly forms for departmental associate use and submission. The reviewed log shall be signed and dated.
  • Reviewing the departmental Daily Missed-Punch Log, assuring that it is properly executed, reporting to the director established patterns of mis-punches, and assuring that a Timecard Change Authorization is properly executed by departmental associate for the director’s signature.
  • Reviewing Investigative Reports with security officers for accuracy, clarity, and compliance with investigative report procedures prior to filing.
  • Review the Security Investigation Report Log for accuracy and neatness, and executing a monthly inventory of submitted reports to assure that all have been properly filed.
  • Gather monthly and annual statistical data relative to the number and types of investigations completed, number and types of injuries sustained, and security interventions addressed by the department for assistance in Safety Committee meetings, compliance assurance, and completion of the Annual Security Department Report.
  • Reviewing staff compliance with established procedures governing the use and maintenance of the golf cart, keys and electronic equipment (radios/Devices), First Aid Cabinets, Shipping and Receiving, Lost and Found, and work area cleanliness.
  • Assist with preparing annual associate employment performance appraisals for discussion with associate, execution by the director, and submission to the Human Resources Manager on a timely manner.
  • Assist with assuring the timely submission of assigned monthly facility inspections and reviewing submitted inspection reports with security officers for accuracy and clarity.
  • Oversee and ensure the implementation of security and safety procedures by departmental associates and hotel staff by being thoroughly familiar with company and office policies as they relate to employee safety conduct.
  • Assisting in the review, modification, development, and/or implementation of safety and security policies and procedures to enhance the proficiency of security staff and overall safety for hotel associates and guests.  To that end, assessing and recommending training to address any noted deficiencies.
  • Advise the manager immediately of discrepancies, issues, unsafe conditions that adversely affect the execution of the duties and responsibilities of the Security Department for proper resolution.
  • Meet service quality standards that affect guest satisfaction; respond to guest questions or problems in a timely, professional manner.
  • Meet the hotel standards for work procedures, dress, grooming, attendance, and punctuality
  • Check vacant rooms.
  • Ensure that Company and Hotel policies and procedures are enforced.
  • Ensure that property/facilities are energy efficient (conserving energy).
  • Maintain current CPR certification.
  • Maintain work area clean and organized. 
  • Make safety and security patrols of property and facility. In a timely manner, report to management any unusual observations.
  • Protect guests and employees from harm and prevent theft and/or destruction of property.
  • Complete/write shift reports and security incident reports accordingly.
  • Confront guests and employees involved in unsafe/illegal acts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Manager to include inter-department training, if necessary.
  • Attend mandatory meetings.

Qualifications/ Skills:

 

  • High School Diploma/GED preferred
  • Security/law enforcement experience preferred
  • CPR Certification  
  • Read, write and speak English fluently
  • Ability to communicate effectively with the public and other employees
  • Report writing and interviews
  • Able to be in a stationary location for hours at a time
  • Standing/Walking/Patrolling grounds and hotel on asphalt, cement, carpet and gravel up to ten miles per day
  • Picking up trash, delivering newspapers, assisting other employees
  • Checking locks, picking up debris delivering newspapers
  • Climbing stairs and ladders
  • Handle luggage, packages, door locks, tools and flashlight
  • Exerting up to 50 lbs
  • Accept opportunities to learn new skills, improve performance or cross-train for other hotel positions; solve routine problems that occur on the job; ask questions when not sure how to complete something; learn new skills as quickly as most others in the same job
  • Be alert to hazards and responsible in carrying out hotel's safety, security, and emergency procedures; suggest ways to improve safety conditions that reduce or prevent accidents and injuries; participate on safety committee or other special projects for safety; actively seek and report potential security risks or hazardous conditions
