Our Internal Service Advisors play a crucial role in ensuring the timely and efficient preparation of used vehicles for retail sales. This position is responsible for scheduling and overseeing necessary service work, including internal vehicle inspections, repairs, and detailing.  This position requires strong attention to detail, effective communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Average monthly earnings of $6,000-$8,000.

Internal Service Advisor Compensation and Benefits:

Internal Service Advisor Competitive Salary: $1.90 per closed shop hour. Average monthly earnings of $6,000-$8,000.

Internal Service Advisor/Writer Responsibilities:

  • Writes up internal vehicles to have the used vehicle inspection, repairs & detail done to get the vehicle ready for retail sale.
  • Ensures all recalls on used vehicles are completed before sold.
  • Refers to service history, inspects vehicle, and recommends additional needed service.
  • Schedules used car reconditioning including windshield replacement, etc.
  • Process and review all internal repair orders
  • Advises Used Car Manager on the repair recommendations of each used car after the technician has done the inspection.
  • Provides a complete and accurate written cost estimate for labor and parts.
  • Establishes "promised time." Checks with team foreman, if necessary.
  • Checks on progress of repair throughout the day & updates the store management team at the end of each business day.
  • Reviews repair orders to ensure that work is completed and additional work and authorization is noted. Closes repair order as appropriate.
  • Maintains a professional appearance.
  • Drive the vehicles to and from the service lane, service stalls and parking lot as needed.
  • Other duties may be assigned by supervisor.

Internal Service Advisor/Writer Qualifications: 

  • Excellent communication skills (including listening, speaking).
  • Ability to read, speak and understand English.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to work alone, self motivate and manage one’s own time.
  • Physical ability to use computer hardware/software.
  • Team player with a positive attitude
  • Computer literate (MS Word, Advanced Excel, Outlook,) 
  • Organized and extremely detail-oriented 
  • Ability to prioritize
  • Deadline-oriented
  • Research skills
  • General math skills
  • Basic knowledge of dealership operations and/or office/clerical experience.
