We are seeking an experienced and results-oriented Body Shop Director to lead our body shop team in delivering high-quality, efficient, and profitable vehicle repair services. This role is crucial in driving sales volume while managing repair costs and overall expenses. Body Shop Director Compensation and Benefits: 

Body Shop Director Competitive Salary: $12,500 monthly salary, plus 10% of the Body Shop net profit. 

Generous Paid Time Off (PTO):We prioritize work-life balance, offering industry-leading PTO. New full-time employees accrue 4 hours per pay period, totaling approximately 96 hours in the first year, with increases over time.

Body Shop Director Responsibilities: 

  • Adopts customer centric thinking, leading the body shop team in creating positive customer experiences that result in high customer satisfaction.  

  • Strives for harmony and teamwork at the body shop and with all Dick Hannah departments.  Actively promoting teamwork and a culture of collaboration between body shop departments. 

  • Use a process driven mindset to establish and maintain the procedures and workflows needed in a high-volume environment.  

  • Uses continuous improvement concepts, challenging the team to identify improvement opportunities, make the appropriate plans, execute, and monitor results.  

  • Sets monthly goals and objectives for the departments and strives to meet them. 

  • Hires, trains, motivates, and monitors the performance of body shop personnel. 

  • Drives increasing sales by establishing/maintaining business relationships, guiding marketing, and website development.  

  • Controls and is responsible for all body shop receivables, ensuring prompt payment. 

  • Ensures that payroll is completed on time and that all payroll is reviewed and correct. 

  • Maintains reporting systems required by general management and selected insurance companies. 

  • Monitors the performance of the body, paint, glass and calibration departments.  Ensure quality workmanship as the repair progresses and that the estimates are followed as listed. 

  • Oversee and ensure that all parts are received in acceptable condition.  Ensure that all additional parts are ordered and received according to commitments made. 

  • Establishes and maintains good working relationships with insurance DRP companies. 

  • Establishes and maintains good working relationships with OEM Certified manufacturers. 

  • Works closely with Dick Hannah service & parts dealership teams to ensure strong correlation between the teams.   

  • Conducts regular performance evaluations of direct reports and oversees performance feedback for all body shop positions.  

  • Understands, keeps abreast of, and complies with federal, state, and local regulations that affect body, paint, glass and calibration operations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, etc. 

  • Fosters professional employee development and coordinates with the assistant manager and shop supervisor to determine needs for advanced training. 

  • Maintains high-quality repairs and minimizes comebacks. Conducts periodic spot checks of completed jobs for thoroughness and quality. 

  • Makes customer satisfaction a department priority, ensuring that department personnel are courteous and respectful in their interaction with customers. 

  • Handles customer complaints immediately and according to Dick Hannah Dealership’s guidelines. 

  • Understands the new equipment and tools available and recommends their implementation as appropriate. 

  • Ensures that all company tools and equipment are maintained  

  • Achieves a highly trained workforce that can safely and confidently complete their work.  

  • Maintains a safe work environment, ensuring that proper safety equipment is available and used as designed. 

  • Establishes and maintains good working relationships with vocational and technical schools to enhance personnel recruitment activities. 

  • Serves as liaison with OEM and insurance representatives. 

  • Maintain excellent attendance record serving as an example to subordinates. 

  • Maintains a secure facility and ensures the protection of customer property. 

 

Body Shop Director Qualifications: 

  • 5+ years of experience managing direct reports. 

  • Excellent communication skills (including listening, speaking). 

  • Ability to read, speak and understand English. 

  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form. 

  • Ability to multi-task. 

  • Ability to work alone, self-motivate and manage one’s own time. 

  • Physical ability to use computer hardware/software. 

  • Team player with a positive attitude. 

  • Computer literate (MS Word, Advanced Excel, Outlook) 

  • Organized and extremely detail oriented. 

  • Ability to prioritize. 

  • Deadline-oriented 

  • Research skills 

  • General math skills 

  • Basic knowledge of dealership operations.
