Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented GIS Analyst to join our team. This role is integral to managing and optimizing our streetlight infrastructure and related systems. The GIS Analyst will oversee the creation, maintenance, and analysis of spatial data, ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of streetlight asset management. The ideal candidate is proficient in GIS software, spatial analysis, and data visualization, with a keen interest in leveraging technology to support urban infrastructure planning and maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Database Management:

Regularly update and maintain the streetlight asset databases within different systems, ensuring data accuracy and completeness.

Integrate field data from inspections, repairs, and new installations into the GIS system.

Standardize and validate data inputs to comply with organizational and regulatory requirements.

Conduct periodic audits of GIS data to identify and correct discrepancies.
2. Mapping and Spatial Analysis:

Develop and update high-quality maps to display current and planned streetlight locations, conditions, and service areas.

Perform spatial analyses to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement in streetlight placement or functionality.

Map related utility infrastructure, such as power sources, cabling routes, and urban development projects, to support integrated planning efforts.

Collaborate with field teams and other departments to ensure spatial data aligns with operational needs.
3. Reporting and Visualization:

Create detailed and actionable reports on streetlight performance metrics, outages, repairs, and operational efficiency.

Develop user-friendly dashboards and visualizations to communicate insights to internal stakeholders and external partners.

Provide historical data and predictive analyses to support infrastructure planning and budgeting decisions.
4. Technical Support and Innovation:

Train team members on GIS tools and processes to improve data collection and reporting.

Troubleshoot GIS-related technical issues and ensure the smooth functioning of systems.

Stay current with advancements in GIS technology and tools, recommending upgrades or new systems to enhance workflows.

Implement automation and process optimization strategies for data updates and reporting.
5. Compliance and Documentation:

Maintain thorough documentation of GIS processes, datasets, and updates for audit and reference purposes.

Ensure all spatial data complies with legal and organizational data management policies, including privacy and security standards.
6. Cross-Functional Collaboration:

Work closely with project managers, engineers, field technicians, and other stakeholders to provide GIS support for ongoing projects.

Assist the planning team in evaluating new lighting proposals and forecasting infrastructure needs.

Collaborate with other external stakeholders to share relevant GIS data and insights.
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Geography, GIS, Urban Planning, or a related field; a master’s degree is a plus.

Proven experience in GIS analysis and database management, preferably in urban infrastructure or utility industries.

Proficiency with GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) and related tools for spatial analysis and mapping.

Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) and programming languages (e.g., Python, SQL) is preferred.

Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Excellent communication skills to translate technical findings into actionable insights.
Preferred Qualifications:
