Role Summary:

The Jr. Distribution Design Engineer is responsible for designing and overseeing electric utility projects that ensure reliable and efficient power delivery to our community.  This role will Design, develop, and enhance new and existing products/product lines. Evaluate and recommend specifications and ensure the technical and functional requirements have been met.  Recommend and follow reliable, efficient, and cost-effective procedures. Performs feasibility, functional, and quality testing of designs. Works with other members of the engineering team to ensure project milestones are met and that projects are completed according to established timelines. 

Job Responsibilities:  

  • Create detailed designs and technical drawings for utility systems and equipment.

  • Collaborate with project managers and other engineers to understand project requirements.

  • Conduct feasibility studies and analysis to determine design solutions.

  • Ensure designs comply with safety and environmental regulations.

  • Assist in the testing and evaluation of prototypes and existing systems.

  • Prepare and present reports on design progress and challenges.

  • Develop electrical designs for new and existing utility projects, including URD OH/UG

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including construction, operations, and maintenance, to ensure designs meet project requirements and regulatory standards.

  • Create and maintain detailed engineering documentation, including drawings, specifications, and reports in our dedicated software and resource management. 

  • Conduct field assessments and site visits to evaluate existing conditions and gather data for project planning.

  • Stay current with industry trends, codes, and regulations to ensure compliance and implement best practices.

Preferred skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field).

  • Strong background in Electrical Engineering and project management.

  • Proven track record of Innovative Solutions.

  • Strong knowledge of design software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks).

  • Good understanding of utility industry standards and regulations.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
