Painter Summary/Objective:

The Painter will use paint application techniques and equipment to professionally finish interior and exterior surfaces. 

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Measures area to be painted; determines quantity and type of paint to use for the project.
• Identifies and orders appropriate paint colors and finishes, mixing if needed.
• Ensure all ductile iron is checked in and tagged inside before blast
• Ensure all pipe is coated with proper coating
• Verify all linings are complete and undamaged
• Direct others to best maintain and increase production
• Help maintain logs of atmosphere and testing
• Assist with keeping inventory and stock
• Help with QC of painted pipe before being labeled and then moved to yard
• Ensure paint areas are clean and clear of debris
• Help with the QC of PL-90 fittings and paperwork
• Prepares surfaces to be painted, which may include removing prior finishes through chemicals, grit blast, or other methods.
• Masks, removes, covers, or otherwise protects hardware, trim, and other nonpainted surfaces.
• Applies paint to interior and exterior surfaces using brushes, rollers, sprayers, airbrushes, stencils, and other tools.
• Performs basic stencil and line work, which may include painting lines on factory floors, parking lots, and other surfaces.
• May apply specialty finishes, and glazes.
• Complies with chemical and waste storage and disposal regulations and best practices.
• Builds scaffolding according to safety regulations.
• Maintains a clean work area.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent required. 

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods of standing and painting. 
• Must be able to work in extreme temperatures.
• Must have adequate balance and ability to climb ladders and scaffolding. 
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times. 
• Must be able to distinguish among colors.
