Used Car Reconditioning Technician

Chapman Volkswagen of Scottsdale is hiring an experienced Used Car Reconditioning Technician to join our service team. We are proud to offer a large selection of new and pre-owned vehicles, and we are looking for a skilled technician to ensure our used inventory is properly inspected, diagnosed, and reconditioned before it reaches our customers.

In this role, you will perform used vehicle inspections, diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on trade-ins and purchased vehicles to prepare them for resale. This is an excellent opportunity for a technician who enjoys troubleshooting, working independently, and producing high-quality work in a modern, air-conditioned shop environment.

Competitive Compensation: Between $23- $30 per hour based on experience and certifications

What You’ll Do

• Perform comprehensive used vehicle inspections on trade-ins and auction purchases
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues using proper diagnostic procedures
• Perform maintenance and repairs on automotive systems including engine, transmission, steering, suspension, brakes, electrical systems, and HVAC
• Document inspection findings and recommended repairs for reconditioning approval
• Communicate repair needs and estimated completion timelines with management
• Complete repairs according to dealership standards and manufacturer guidelines
• Accurately document all work performed in the service system

What We’re Looking For

• Minimum 3+ years of automotive technician experience (diagnostics, inspections, maintenance, and repairs)
• Used vehicle inspection or reconditioning experience strongly preferred
• ASE certifications preferred
• Strong mechanical, electrical, and diagnostic troubleshooting skills
• High attention to detail and pride in quality workmanship
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced service environment
• Strong communication skills and basic computer proficiency
• Must have your own tools
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screening

Schedule & Work Environment

• Service Department hours: Monday–Friday 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM | Saturday 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM
• Flexible scheduling within department hours
