Job Description

Cavender Ford is taking customer service directly to our community with our mobile service operations. We are seeking an independent, customer-focused Mobile Service Technician to operate a custom-outfitted, state-of-the-art mobile service vehicle, delivering maintenance, light repairs, and recall services directly to retail homes, ranches, commercial fleets, and job sites across Colorado County.

This position combines strong mechanical skills with direct customer interaction. You will manage your mobile bay on the road, performing on-site maintenance, battery replacements, brake jobs, and software updates while providing exceptional, one-on-one customer care.

  • $30+ per hour

Work Requirements

  • Experience: 2+ years of professional automotive repair or fleet service experience required (Ford experience preferred).

  • Driver’s License: Valid driver’s license with an exceptionally clean driving record is required.

  • Independence: Proven ability to work self-directed, manage time on the road, and communicate professionally with clients.

  • Ability to commute to Columbus, TX and travel throughout the local surrounding territory.

  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.

Responsibilities

  • On-Site Maintenance & Repair: Travel to customer locations in a dealership mobile unit to perform oil changes, tire services, brake jobs, battery replacements, and minor repairs.

  • Mobile Diagnostics & Recalls: Use tablet-based Ford diagnostic tools (IDS/FDRS) to perform software recalibrations, module flashes, and factory recall completions in the field.

  • Mobile Unit Management: Keep the mobile vehicle clean, fully stocked with parts/fluids, organized, and properly maintained at all times.

  • Customer Interaction: Serve as a professional brand ambassador for Cavender Ford, explaining completed work, answering customer questions, and handling digital payments.

  • Digital Work Logs: Maintain accurate digital documentation for all repair orders, multi-point inspections, and work signatures using dealership software.

Qualifications

  • Mechanical proficiency across braking, electrical, suspension, and maintenance systems.

  • Comfort operating handheld diagnostic tablets and digital repair order software.

  • Friendly, professional demeanor with strong customer service and communication skills.

  • Active Ford certifications or ASE credentials are a strong plus.
