Salt Fork Lodge & Conference Center is looking for a dynamic, experienced Chief Engineer to lead the daily operations.
Located in eastern Ohio, Salt Fork State Park encompasses a stunning landscape featuring forested hills, open meadows, and misty valleys decorated with winding streams. With thousands and thousands of acres of land and water, the park has something for every outdoor enthusiast. Boaters will appreciate the park's two marinas and eight launch ramps; hikers will be challenged by a trail system that offers a variety of lengths and levels of difficulty; history buffs can visit the historic Kennedy Stone House; and golfers will enjoy the top-rated 18-hole golf course. Overnight accommodations include a full-service resort lodge & deluxe vacation cabins.
In this key leadership role, you’ll take charge of all facility operations, ensuring everything runs seamlessly—from guest rooms and event spaces to boilers, chillers, kitchens, laundry, building exteriors, and our charming cabins. You’ll play a critical part in delivering a safe, comfortable, and exceptional experience for every guest.
We’re seeking a hands-on leader with strong technical expertise, a proactive mindset, and a passion for keeping complex systems operating at their best. The ideal candidate brings 3–5 years of practical experience and preferably holds a two-year technical certificate in HVAC systems, mechanical repair, building automation, or energy management. Experience in the hospitality industry is a plus, along with a genuine enthusiasm for maintaining high-performing environments. A valid driver’s license is required.

Responsibilities:
- This position requires strong leadership skills and a willingness to work different shifts depending on business needs. Good communication skills are necessary across all hotel departments.
- Hires, trains, coaches and schedules all Maintenance Technicians.
- Maintains the company maintenance ticket tracking system (KOKO) and coordinates assignments daily of all department personnel.
- Troubleshoots and repairs malfunctions in mechanical or electrical systems such as HVAC, plumbing, and other equipment throughout the hotel.
- Performs preventative maintenance assignments on a scheduled basis.
- Services the lodge’s pool, including adjusting chemicals and cleaning filters, completing maintenance request forms and record logs.
- Supervises maintenance of the building exterior and curb appeal for snow removal, lawn care, painting, and other gardening.
- Develop associate skills through training while ensuring safety programs are effective and compliant with corporate standards, OSHA and other regulations. Oversee workflow quality for 5 to 6 associates daily.
- Schedule and manage third party contractors to ensure building systems compliance along with various other equipment repairs, projects, renovations and capital replacements.
- Coordinates projects with ODNR, as required.
- Utilizes the company required software for logging and completing all maintenance tickets & requests.
- Maintain critical spare parts inventory, purchasing supplies for the department and submitting capital planning requests.
- Covers Manager on Duty (MOD) shifts as required.
Qualifications:
- Must have 3-5 years maintenance experience, with 2 years direct maintenance supervisory experience.
- Must be skilled in all areas of trade including, but not limited to HVAC, boilers, electrical, carpentry, dry walling, painting, plumbing, roofing, and landscaping
- Must be able to troubleshoot and repair routine mechanical and electrical malfunctions in hotel systems and equipment.
- Must be willing and able to be responsive to complaints about maintenance and be willing and able to “pitch in” and help co-workers with their job duties and be a team player.
- Considerable knowledge of mathematical skills necessary to interpret electrical, mechanical and building systems.
- Considerable knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems with the ability to analyze their design and intent and performance.
- Considerable knowledge of construction and building systems
- Strong organizational skills with exception time management required.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Physical & Environmental Demands:
- Must be able to bend, reach, kneel, twist and grip items while working in assigned area.
- Manual dexterity and coordination to perform all job duties including lifting, moving heavy loads, be on feet for long periods of time, etc.
- Work in cold & hot temperatures, indoors & outdoors.
- Ability to perform duties in confined space and in awkward positions.
- Ability to lift and carry items weighing between 20 and 60 pounds per day.
