We are experiencing growth and are looking for a sharp, dynamic individual with a lot of initiative and drive to take charge and manage our Factory/ Woodworking Shop. You must have great interpersonal skills to communicate with everyone from the owners of the company to hourly employees and manage the department.
You will be a member of our management team helping to develop plans for the future. You must be able to identify areas of concern and develop processes and procedures to aid in our growth and the long term health of the business.
This is a player-coach role, not a desk job. We need someone who can step onto the saw or program the CNC when needed, then step back into the manager seat to plan next week's schedule. If you'd rather only direct than do, this isn't the right fit.
To be successful in this position, you will have the following duties and responsibilities:
Lead the Team
- Oversee and direct all factory and install personnel.
- Responsible for the plant’s and install staffing, operational efficiency, maintenance, cleanliness and cost control measures.
- Train plant and install personnel on cabinet making skills, finishing details and how to be more efficient.
- Bring solutions and fresh ideas to the table. Pointing out problems is the easy part. We need someone who owns the fix.
- Spend periodic time in the field on installs. Understanding how our jobs get installed is the fastest way to improve what we build in the shop.
- Manage shop and installer capacity and staffing levels. Forecast when we need to add headcount, when to cross-train, and when to flex hours to hit production targets.
- Identify training gaps and build the team's skills over time, both technical and soft skills.
- Own the feedback loop: when an issue is flagged, you ensure the root cause is fixed, not just patched.
- Handle conflict resolution. Address issues directly and early, before they fester into bigger problems.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies.
Support Production
- Produce high quality jobs on time.
- Partner with purchasing and track inventory levels and ensure proper inventory, supplies and tools are on hand.
- Responsible for reviewing project details before work begins to catch mistakes early.
- Lead quality control (QC) checks with the team on all items produced before they leave the shop. QC is everyone's job, but you own the standard.
- Own the production schedule and keep the production timely at all times.
- Jump on the floor when needed. You set the pace by example.
Maintain Equipment
- Become fluent on every machine in the shop. Comfortable programming the CNC, and able to troubleshoot when operators get stuck
- Keep shop machines running including edge bander, CNC machine
- Handle basic troubleshooting and repairs; schedule preventive maintenance
- Make sure all vehicles and tools are clean and in good condition.

- Experience in managing people.
- Experience in cabinet, millwork, construction, or manufacturing is a plus.
- Osha 10+ and CPR certified is a plus.
