We’re looking for a Prep & Paint Technician to join our heavy equipment team — someone who knows their way around sanders, sprayers, and a solid paint job. Business Operating Hours/Schedule: Monday through Friday 7:30 am - 5:00 pm

What You’ll Be Doing:

  1. Surface Preparation
    1. Perform sanding, grinding, and chemical cleaning of equipment surfaces.
    2. Mask components and areas not to be painted using tape, paper, and plastic.
    3. Inspect surfaces for imperfections and ensure appropriate conditioning before painting.
  2. Paint Application
    1. Mix and prepare primers, paints, and protective coatings to match specifications.
    2. Apply coatings using spray guns, brushes, or rollers to achieve uniform coverage.
    3. Apply multiple layers (primer, base coat, topcoat) as needed for proper finish and durability.
  3. Equipment Maintenance & Operation
    1. Operate and maintain painting equipment, spray booths, sand blasting booth, and safety gear in accordance with safety regulations and manufacturer guidelines.
    2. Clean and maintain painting tools and equipment to ensure optimal performance.
    3. Conduct regular maintenance checks on paint systems and ventilation controls.
  4. Quality Control
    1. Check finished surfaces for paint defects, drips, or uneven application.
    2. Perform touch-ups and refinishing as necessary to meet quality standards.
    3. Ensure painted surfaces meet customer and manufacturer finish requirements.
  5. Other
    1. Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures, including PPE usage and proper disposal of hazardous materials.
    2. Properly store, label, and dispose of paints, thinners, and other chemicals.
    3. Record and report work completed, time spent, and materials used.

What We’re Looking For:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational training in auto body or industrial painting preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in painting and prepping large vehicles, machinery, or heavy equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of surface preparation, paint types, and application methods.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, paint codes, and safety data sheets.
  • Familiarity with OSHA and EPA regulations regarding paint booths and hazardous materials.
