The Calgary TELUS Convention Centre is looking to hire the position of Strategic Event Solutions Manager in the Sales Department.
Reporting to the Associate Director, Sales, the Strategic Event Solutions Manager will be responsible for creating and developing new event concepts and opportunities that drive revenue and enhance the guest experience. This role involves working across various departments, building collaborative relationships with internal teams and external partners, and utilizing data to identify new business opportunities. The ideal candidate is a creative, results-driven professional with a passion for innovation, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to influence key interest holders to create impactful solutions for the Calgary TELUS Convention Centre (CTCC).
Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead business development and implement innovative event concepts, packages, and solutions that create new revenue streams for CTCC.
- Collaborate with internal departments, including sales, marketing, operations, finance and events, to ensure seamless execution of new initiatives and drive business growth.
- Work closely with external partners and interest holders to identify new opportunities, secure buy-in, and foster long-term relationships.
- Assist in other markets as required, adapting sales strategies to meet specific business goals and expand CTCC's market share across various sectors.
- Work with the sales team to identify opportunities for cross-market collaboration and growth, providing support as needed to assist in other markets.
- Create and analyze data-driven strategies to continuously recommend and implement new revenue-generating opportunities.
- Differentiate CTCC from its competitors by introducing unique and creative event solutions that set us apart in the marketplace.
- Manage the development and execution of new event solutions, ensuring they meet both client expectations and business objectives.
- Foster collaboration across teams to ensure successful implementation and execution of innovative events that drive engagement and revenue.
- Lead efforts to promote CTCC’s new event concepts and solutions to external interest holders, positioning the venue as a premier destination for distinctive events.
- Stay ahead of emerging event trends and industry best practices to ensure CTCC remains at the forefront of innovation.
- Regularly evaluate and refine existing processes, adjusting as necessary to optimize the event experience and maximize revenue potential.
- Drive profitability of new and existing revenue streams – analyzing data for continuous improvement.

Education
- Preferably a post-secondary education in a related field such as Event Management, Event Production, Marketing, Communications, or Project Management.
- Relevant industry certifications or specialized training in event production, experiential marketing, or project management are considered assets.
Experience & Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in sales, event production, event/project management, marketing, or a related role, preferably within the meetings, conventions, or experiential events industry.
- Proven track record of relationship-based sales, including prospecting, proposal development, contract negotiation, and account management.
- Demonstrated success in delivering customized event solutions aligned with client goals, budgets, and brand standards.
- Strong understanding of event logistics, production timelines, and vendor coordination, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience collaborating on marketing strategies and developing client-facing materials to support sales efforts.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, based on business needs and event schedules.
- Ability to travel as required for site visits, trade shows, and client meetings; driver's license preferred.
- Onsite presence is essential for relationship development, client engagement, and event delivery.
- Experience with the hospitality sales cycle is considered an asset, with a strong understanding of business development, relationship management, and contract negotiations.
- Ability to travel internationally as needed, with a valid passport and flexibility to attend key industry events, client meetings, and trade shows.
- In-person/onsite work is required, with the expectation of regular travel for client engagement and business development activities.
