The Consultant, Relationship Development is responsible for generating new business leads, building client relationships, and representing Burnham Nationwide in the marketplace through networking, industry involvement, and stakeholder engagement. This is a front-line relationship development role focused on expanding Burnham's client base by connecting prospective clients with the right project managers and services.
Reports to: Division President
Salary range: $70,000-$85,000 plus commission

Key Responsibilities
- Build and Nurture Client Relationships: Coordinate regular lunches and meetings between stakeholders and project managers; follow up on connections from networking events; create and maintain a contact list of prospective clients.
- Generate New Business Leads: Respond to inbound sales inquiries and schedule appointments with appropriate project managers; pitch services and new products to stakeholders; follow up on internal new business initiatives.
- Represent Burnham Nationwide in the Industry: Participate actively in professional organizations such as AIA, BOMA, and CREW; pursue leadership positions within industry groups; promote Burnham's services and upcoming events to industry contacts.
- Coordinate and Deliver Presentations and Marketing Content: Coordinate Lunch and Learn presentations with internal teams and manage rehearsal schedules; work with Burnham's marketing vendor to develop client-facing materials; advise on edits and ensure content is ready to present.
- Use CRM and Other Platforms: Maintain leads, contact records, and conversation notes in HubSpot; properly manage prospect files using the appropriate platforms; adhere to required data management and security policies.

Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Bachelor's or higher in marketing, communications, or business ideal but not required
- Sales, client service, or business development experience

Some qualifications can be developed on the job based on equivalent/similar experience.
- Language Ability: Read, analyze, and interpret business, professional, technical, and governmental documents. Write reports and business correspondence. Effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, customers, and the public.

- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) / Google Applications
- Proficient in HubSpot, Box.com, and presentation software (e.g., PowerPoint, Google Slides)
- Certificates and Licenses:
- No specific certifications required; relevant sales or marketing certifications a plus but not required
Position Details
Full-time, Salaried Position (exempt position, ineligible for overtime).
5 days in the office per week, as stipulated by your office or supervisor.
Limited domestic travel for occasional client meetings and work events; occasional evening networking events and industry functions may also be required.
- Dress code: In-office dress is business casual with provided uniform shirts, and we require uniform shirts when customer-facing. Other dress code requirements may be stipulated by your office or supervisor.
- Work environment: Our offices are climate-controlled, open-office concepts, with casual noise and flexible seating. Some on-site visits of clients at job sites may be necessary, where work environment conditions may vary.
