Position Summary
The Safety Engineer’s primary function is to provide support to the Safety Department and specific projects. This position offers an opportunity to build on existing foundational safety experience while supporting multiple projects at one time. This individual will report to the Sr. Safety Managers.
Responsibilities
- Implement on-site safety program responsibilities and duties
- Attend project meetings as needed and address lessons learned, incidents, and close calls
- Document all incidents, safety violations, and unsafe conditions/activities
- Identify, report, and assist in the resolution of safety violations, unsafe behaviors, and non-compliant conditions
- Relay safety-related communication to required parties (i.e. project team)
- Safety documentation management as required
- Program and document development as required
- Develop and conduct training as required
Qualifications
- Safety and Health Degree from an accredited program, and/or equivalent field experience
- A minimum of 1 – 3 years of construction-related safety experience
- Strong organization, communication, and prioritization skills
- Self-starter with the ability to schedule and efficiently support teams
- Ability to assume responsibility and interface well with the project team
- Customer and team-oriented
- Problem-solving ability
- Attention to detail
- Demonstrate a high level of competency in all responsibilities and requirements of the Safety Engineer position
- Working knowledge of Microsoft applications: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
- Travel in and around Chicago and its suburbs
