Position Summary
BrightStar Care of South Sacramento is seeking compassionate and reliable Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to support individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities. DSPs play a vital role in helping clients live safely, independently, and with dignity in their homes and communities.
The ideal candidate is patient, dependable, and passionate about supporting individuals with diverse needs.
Responsibilities

Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting

Provide companionship and emotional support

Assist with meal preparation and light housekeeping
-
Support clients with community integration and recreational activities
-
Follow individualized care plans and behavior support plans
-
Monitor and report changes in client condition or behavior
-
Maintain accurate documentation and care notes
-
Ensure client safety at all times

Follow all Title 17 regulations and agency policies
-
Ability to work on weekends, nights, and holidays
-
Reliable transportation
-
Must be able to stand,walk, squat, bend, kneel, reach, twist, push, and pull. Varied assistance is required depending on the mobility of the client. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required
-
Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred

DSP Certification (or willingness to obtain)

Ability to pass background check and Live Scan

Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred
-
Current CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Skills

Experience with behavioral support
-
Experience supporting individuals with autism, intellectual disabilities, or mobility limitations

Knowledge of California Title 17 regulations
