The Parts Counter Person is responsible for providing excellent customer service, selling automotive parts, assisting service technicians, maintaining inventory, and helping ensure the Parts Department operates efficiently. This position will also make parts deliveries and pick-ups from vendors and other locations. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the parts sales process from start to finish
  • Assist retail customers and service technicians with their parts needs
  • Work with the Parts Manager to locate parts that are not in stock
  • Complete special-order part requests for customers
  • Communicate with customers regarding parts availability and status
  • Receive, inspect, organize, and stock incoming parts
  • Maintain accurate parts inventory
  • Make parts deliveries and pick up parts from vendors and other locations
  • Communicate with staff, vendors, and customers in a friendly and professional manner
  • Keep the Parts Department organized and clean
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures
  • Understand and follow federal, state, and local regulations applicable to the industry
  • Perform other duties as needed

Requirements

  • Previous experience at a Ford dealership is a plus
  • Experience with automotive parts sales is preferred
  • Knowledge of automobiles and automotive parts
  • Ability to identify and locate the correct parts efficiently
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Strong reading, computer, and mathematics skills
  • Ability to learn new technology and parts/service procedures
  • Basic computer skills
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Detail-oriented with a professional appearance and strong work ethic
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work on your feet for extended periods of time
  • Valid driver's license and a good driving record
  • Positive, friendly attitude
  • High school diploma or equivalent
