Staff Accountant – Remote | Better Living Corporate Support

Position Summary

The Accountant supports Better Living’s mission by maintaining accurate, compliant, and transparent financial operations for our small, multi‑state organization. This role manages daily accounting functions and timely financial insights.  Although this position is remote, it is favorable if the applicant resides in Iowa or Illinois.  The Accountant brings professionalism, integrity, and a service‑oriented approach that helps our teams stay focused on delivering exceptional care to residents and families.


Key Responsibilities

General Accounting & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate general ledger entries, reconciliations, and month‑end close processes.
  • Prepare financial statements, budget summaries, and variance reports for leadership.
  • Track cash flow, monitor expenses, and support forecasting.

Accounts Payable & Receivable

  • Process invoices, vendor payments, and reimbursements with accuracy and timeliness.
  • Manage receivables, monitor aging, and support collections when needed.

 


Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of accounting experience;
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and standard accounting practices.
  • Experience with accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, and follow‑through.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment while maintaining strong communication.
  • High level of professionalism, confidentiality, and integrity.
