Service Advisor

Position Summary:

The Service Advisor serves as the liaison between customers and the dealership’s service department. This individual is responsible for understanding customer vehicle concerns, recommending appropriate service or repairs, and ensuring an exceptional customer experience from check-in to vehicle delivery. The ideal candidate has strong communication skills, mechanical knowledge, and a customer-focused mindset.

Key Responsibilities:

• Greet customers in a professional and timely manner.
• Document customer concerns and vehicle symptoms accurately.
• Prepare repair orders and communicate customer requests to technicians.
• Provide detailed explanations of required and recommended maintenance and repairs.
• Present estimates and obtain customer authorizations for work.
• Keep customers informed of vehicle status throughout the repair process.
• Review completed work with the customer and ensure satisfaction.
• Promote service specials and dealership maintenance plans.
• Handle customer complaints with professionalism and escalate issues as needed.
• Maintain current knowledge of manufacturer recalls, warranty coverage, and service bulletins.
• Ensure compliance with dealership policies, safety procedures, and environmental regulations.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in automotive or business preferred.
• Prior experience in automotive service writing or related customer service role.
• Working knowledge of automotive systems and repairs.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Strong organizational and time management abilities.
• Proficiency with dealership management systems (e.g., Reynolds & Reynolds, CDK) is a plus.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Work Environment:

• Fast-paced dealership service department.
• Requires standing, walking, and occasional lifting (up to 25 lbs).
• Some weekend and evening hours may be required.
