SUMMARY OF PURPOSE AND GOALS:

The Maintenance Technician 2 is responsible for implementing thorough systems of preventive maintenance, equipment monitoring, safety and security management, repairs, and facility improvements. You will assist the Building Maintenance Engineer in assuring the continual availability of utilities and facility services. This person is committed to seeing your Department continually improve the quality of services offered and maintain a high level of resident satisfaction with the physical environment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge and Skill

    1. High school graduate or General Education Diploma (G.E.D.).
    2. Prefer continuing education in subjects relating to building maintenance and/or construction.
    3. Prefer experience in building maintenance and/or construction trades.
    4. Prefer appropriate licenses and certifications for assisting with the operation Bayview’s boilers and refrigeration units, or willingness to obtain such licenses and certifications.
    5. Current Washington State driver’s license is desirable.
    6. Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral English.
    7. Working knowledge of hazardous materials and the use of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
    8. Working knowledge of modes of transmission of infectious diseases, including blood-borne pathogens, and the practice of universal precautions.
    9. Understands and respects Residents’ Rights.
    10. Demonstrates patience; a genuine caring attitude toward the elderly, disabled persons, and children; flexibility; a positive outlook; the ability to focus on the strengths of other people; and a healthy sense of humor.
    11. Demonstrated skill and experience in all of the categories mentioned as Specific Duties and Responsibilities.
