Responsibilities
  • Receives repair orders from dispatcher and takes to stall area
  • Performs work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards
  • Diagnoses cause of any malfunction and perform appropriate repair 
  • Clocks on and off repair orders
  • Communicates with Parts Department to obtain needed parts
  • Saves and tags parts if the job is under warranty or if requested by the customer 
  • Examines the vehicle to determine if additional safety or service work is required
  • Advises Shop Foreman immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the time promised
  • Documents work performed and reason for failure of component
  • Road - tests heavy trucks when required or refer to the test technician, keeping in mind that the customers' trucks should not be used for personal errands
  • Supervises work of any apprentice technicians as assigned
  • Attends factory-sponsored training classes
  • Keeps abreast of factory technical bulletins
  • Ensures that customers' cars are kept clean
  • Keeps shop area neat and clean and be able to account for all dealership- owned tools at all times
  • Understands and follows federal, state and local regulations, such as those governing the use and storage of chemicals and disposal of hazardous wastes
  • Road-tests heavy truck to quality-check work performed
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of Service Technician experience required
  • A-level qualifications, including Diagnostic, Electrical and Engine Repair
  • Broad knowledge of new vehicle technologies
  • Ambitious, hardworking presence in a team environment
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Positive, friendly attitude, along with a customer service mentality
  • Enjoy working in a dynamic environment
  • Ability to collaborate effectively
  • Ability to learn new technology, repair and service procedures and specifications
  • Able to operate electronic diagnostic equipment
  • Minimum high school diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record
