Responsibilities
- Receives repair orders from dispatcher and takes to stall area
- Performs work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards
- Diagnoses cause of any malfunction and perform appropriate repair
- Clocks on and off repair orders
- Communicates with Parts Department to obtain needed parts
- Saves and tags parts if the job is under warranty or if requested by the customer
- Examines the vehicle to determine if additional safety or service work is required
- Advises Shop Foreman immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the time promised
- Documents work performed and reason for failure of component
- Road - tests heavy trucks when required or refer to the test technician, keeping in mind that the customers' trucks should not be used for personal errands
- Supervises work of any apprentice technicians as assigned
- Attends factory-sponsored training classes
- Keeps abreast of factory technical bulletins
- Ensures that customers' cars are kept clean
- Keeps shop area neat and clean and be able to account for all dealership- owned tools at all times
- Understands and follows federal, state and local regulations, such as those governing the use and storage of chemicals and disposal of hazardous wastes
- Road-tests heavy truck to quality-check work performed
Qualifications
- 5+ years of Service Technician experience required
- A-level qualifications, including Diagnostic, Electrical and Engine Repair
- Broad knowledge of new vehicle technologies
- Ambitious, hardworking presence in a team environment
- Excellent customer service skills
- Basic computer skills
- Positive, friendly attitude, along with a customer service mentality
- Enjoy working in a dynamic environment
- Ability to collaborate effectively
- Ability to learn new technology, repair and service procedures and specifications
- Able to operate electronic diagnostic equipment
- Minimum high school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
